I just use the forum to tell MTU what is happening.

The fact is that Hoster 4.0 apparently works for all VIPs and beta testers... for all the common people is not working properly. The guilty ones are the computers, video cards, vista, upgrades not done, the users, but not the software, something is seriously wrong with Vista and Hoster we' all know that but then, how come I don't have problems with other programs that I use? and yeah maybe I am the .1%.

That was actually my next question for Dale but you may have answered, I am only running 2gb of ram and I know Vista is a memory hog. So maybe I better add a couple GB

I have another suggestion, it may be worth a few cents...If you don't want to run VISTA, you can revert to XP Pro with the Product ID Code for Windows VISTA. Microsoft may not like it but, I have done it on a desktop computer that was giving me fits with VISTA Ultimate. That PC is working like a champ. I may go ahead later and reinstall VISTA, maybe when SP2 comes out.

Gentlepersons,

I am pained to read this Thread because you are all honored customers, and... I am a perfectionist. We do NOT see the problems you are experiencing, and we test on XP+SP3, Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, and Vista 64.

RickyRay pointed out that VIP and Beta Testers seem to be running without problems, but not "common" users.

Read and DO all the changes to your system in this FAQ page:

http://www.mtu.com/faq-test.php?article=98

This is one reason "seasoned" users are not experiencing the problems some of you are.

Vista's SIDEBAR takes an ENORMOUS amount of compute power. If you have it running... disable it.

AERO also plays havoc with video/audio products. Consider disabling it.

There are other changes to make. I hope this helps more of you in this Thread. I know we would all like to hear WHICH of the changes you make (and if you have XP or Vista), and did they work. This will help us and all our users.

We ARE listening....

Admin, I have done every change that you suggested and I still have the lyric sync problem in 4.05. All of the other problems went away. I run Vista and found the aero problem by accident a long time ago and have not run that since. I disabled sidebar also. I have all updates of my drivers. I don't have any problems with 4.03 and will continue to run it until 4.10 release. I absolutly LOVE this Program. It is hard sometime to keep up with all of the 'fixes' in the forum. Sometimes the Post gets off track and take a differant direction. I'll hang in there and continue to blame VISTA when things go wrong at shows (last 2 weeks error free). Keep up the good work.

When I search song [in version 3.40] it takes a little longer to load them to the playlist. That is what makes me think that there are some small changes.

I followed all the instructions above and still Hoster 4 is giving me troubles in XP or Vista. There are certain songs that start with effects (I'm talking about the karaoke company logo) and Hoster 4 takes much longer to produce those graphics so the songs are not syncronized. The lyrics go way behing the music and while those songs are playing I see that Hoster never tries to catch up. The arrangement of one of the song contains 2 verses 2 bridges and 3 chorus. Hoster displays the first chorus lyrics over the 3 and final chorus. I am talking way behind.

What brands? There may be something that needs to be addressed by MTU to make them work right. I know that the SAV series do not play the opening and closing title pages correctly. I think there was one other that has been found too, but can't remember which one it was (Oldtimers disease-CRS).
Have you tried cutting your colors from 32 bit down to 16 bit? This has helped in a lot of cases.

I have found that under Hoster 4.05 using HDMP3G files and moving the Main Volume Slider, it will cause the Audio to Stutter, and the graphics will then play out of sync.

Can all customers that are having this problem, cofirm that they are doing this? If not, please tell me exactly what you are doing when it happens.

Please post what type of files you are using when it does this. I need to know if they are CDCDG, HDMP3G, etc...

This is shown in the Playlist window under Type when you have the files in your playlist.

Also, this does NOT occur when I go back to version 4.03 as stated above.

All I use are songs imported with Hoster from CD's (kma). The brand that is giving me problems maybe is unknown to you. It is a mexican line that is called Discos Jade, Karaokanta line. Hoster 3 plays them correctly. I haven't used volume control from Hoster, it is in the same place as it was when installed.

Send me some of these .kma files to support at mtu.com so that I can test them.

Once you do this, we will start looking more into this. You can find the File Type as I stated in the Playlist, it will say CDCDG, HDMP3G and some others I forget, but these are the Main formats.

Attach the file to an email and send it to support @ mtu.com, just remove the spaces. It will then get to me. Once I get it we will take a look at the file, most likely tomorrow.

If you can't email it as an ATTACHMENT to support@mtu.com, then put 4 or 5 of these KMA files on a CDROM and mail it to:

MTU
8390 Six Forks Road
Suite 101
Raleigh, NC 27615

Please be sure to include the BRAND (Discos Jade, Karaokanta) name on the CDROM so we can identify it when/if we fix it. Some "graphical active" logos take a tremendous amount of compute power to properly index and draw. We fixed the DK logo recently because it is so often used. Don't know if we can afford Discos Jade, Karaokanta as we've never heard of it before.

rickyrey,

I've just played one of my Karaokanta cdg's and it plays ok! Adjust your displays to 16 bit colors and try it on the computer with the XP operating system. I don't have Vista, so I cannot duplicate your problem, using that OS.

Please describe your computer in as much detail as you can. We are starting to see a pattern that is HW related. Include:

1. Computer Manufacturer (HP may be the culprit):

2. Video card/graphics chip maker (Nvideo may be the culprit):

3. Video RAM:

4. Windows version and if all updates have been made (which SRx do you have also):

5. System RAM:

6. CPU Brand (Intel/AMD, and processor name... celeron, duron, core2duo... and speed in GHz):

more, More, MORE....... the more you can tell us the better we can diagnose any similarities to what is going wrong. We can't re-create the problems at MTU, so we are forced to try to "gather together" a group who is experiencing the same problem, and see what is common.

We truly NEED to solve this out of sync problem, but we can't see it on any of our systems.

NOTE: Yesterday on our Vista 64 Intel system, we were able to create the stuttering audio problem that also knocked the lyrics out of sync that some have reported. This happened if you moved the Hoster MAIN Volume slider while playing. Totally re-producible so we are on it today, working towards Hoster 4.06.

BTW: We went to upgrade or Vista 64 to SR1, and found V64 consumes 29.1GB of HDD space, and SR1 needs 5+GB. Gulp... our 120GB HDD C drive partition is 30GB (we have 900MB free with just V64 ). So... we gotta gut the system, repartition the HDD (no, Vista won't allow re-partitioning with it installed ), and then upgrade to SR1. Do Vista's surprises every cease???????

I have a Toshiba Equium Intel Core TM 2 CPU T5300 @1.73 GHz 1.73 gHz
2.00 GB of RAM 32 -bit Operating System. I'm using Vista Home Premium.
My lyrics don't appear to be out of sync. I'm just having problems with the stuttering audio. My Dell Inspiron laptop running XP does not have these problems.
