Yes, it does matter! XP & Vista have different requirements prior to installing Hoster. You also didn't mention which Hoster 4 version - there are 5 updates . It also matters if you upgraded from 3.x (which one) directly to 4.05 or if it was a new install. It also matters whether you did the computer updates before or after you installed Hoster, and if you followed ALL of MTU's recommendations
Most people seem to be doing well with 4.05 on both Vista & XP. Others, including myself, find that 4.03 is working without any problems on Vista, while my 6-year old HP-XP, with lots of other programs installed and only 512 RAM, will run 4.05.
You must take everything into consideration before making a general statement that Hoster just doesn't work
