Angry 4.05 problems - did not make required VISTA changes

Just downloaded 4.05 singers screen will not refresh, "old lyrics stay in background" host lyrics display seems correct. I have done my screen resolutionon both screens to 800x600 and tried 1024X 768 , both screens are at the same resolution. It has never done this before. I just checked i have all the updates. I run windows XP refresh rate set at 60hertz. I am a 5 year user of Hoster, but i am ready to return to a very early version, this new version has given me nothing but heart and head aches.

Was this on one particular song or all of them. There are some songs that used to do that from earlier imports, but after re-import of those songs from disk, they no longer do it.

Have you tried re-importing some of them?
Are they all the same brand or multiple brands?
Have you tried changing your color settings from 32 bit to 16 bit color?

Did they work in 4.03 or 4.04 or which ever version you had installed of 4?
You can't compare what works in 3.4 to any version of 4.0x. They are two very different programs and a lot of new code has gone into 4.
Have you tried some of your newer imports to see if they work ok?

I remember when all that "begging" came out. I saw that happen with another "DJ" program once; and was really crossing my fingers and saying to myself "This won't be out by April 30th".

Although the program seems to be working fine for me now on the shuttle machine my wife uses, and am very happy about the new features.

Carl how much video memory is on that card and how much memory in your computer?
I know the requirements list says you need a minimum of 32MB, but I am finding that really isn't enough. My recommendation is at least 128MB so there is no possiblity of problems. I don't know if it will fix your problems, but it would still be worth it to upgrade.
As far as the drivers, I know MadJim had to go through several different ones for his Nvidia card before he found one that would work, so the latest version is not always the best choice.

I am out of ideas. Will 3.4 play the songs ok? If so use it while you reimport the bad ones. That's the best I can tell you.

That will give you fresh XP OS, but since you don't know what the problem is you may just induce the same problem into the fresh OS. For me reformat is a last resort. I have been using computers since the mid 70's and have never blown away the OS for the sake of what usually is a minor problem thats hard to pin down. Then again, thats just me

Vista with its shipped defaults is NOT designed for running Karaoke shows!

Everyone with Vista should make all these changes so Hoster has a better chance of running smoothly. We will update this page with any new changes that improve it for Hoster so visit it from time to time to see what may be new.

As you can find in these Forums, there are MANY users running Hoster perfectly under Vista. It can be done, but you MUST do your part also just as they have done.

If you want to run professional shows, buy Microsoft's "Vista Download to XP" version, install it and run XP. Vista is a massive mistake IMHO!
