Exclamation Hoster 4.5 lyric sync problem

When I downloaded and installed 4.5 I had a problem with the lyrics lagging behind still with fast songs such as boogie woogie bugel boy. I had net framework 3.5 installed on my computer so I went back to net framework 3.0 but with no change with the lyrics lagging about a half second behind during fast songs. I now seem to have solved this problem buy switching from windows vista aero to windows vista basic. I'm going to test songs all day today to see if this is consistant. The cut off preview window display was fixed as well by switching to vista basic instead of vista aero
crossing my fingers this permenately fixed my problem

I hate to ask stupid questions but I can't find .net framework even installed on my Vista? And, how did you get Aero in the first place, so I can be sure not to get it?

Sky,

No Question is a stupid question after all if we don't ask how will we ever find out the answers to them. I know for one I will stay away from Aero myself and stick with what I know. However I know when I upgrade my company I will have to get 4 OMG 4 Vista mechines at the first of the year. And This really makes me nervous.

Smile Net framework

go to control panel programs and features then on the left hand side click turn windows on or off, when the windows populates your net framework version should show up

right click on your desktop then personalize then windows color and appearance if you have aero enabled you will see it in the window
select vista basic then apply

I don't want to change anythingjust to know if I've got .net framework. It's just that it does not show up in the list of programs that can be un-installed ... just in case it came with my new Vista laptop or installed itself when I wasn't looking

The view is the default setup which is also working fine, so I see no need to change it. Since the only other View option listed is "Classic" , I believe I have "Basic". I will save your instructions for future use

Since Vista is working fine for me with defaults settings, I don't want to change things just to satisfy my curiosity.

Hey James,
It sounds like you had two issues going on.

1. using net framework 3.5

2. running in aero mode

Hoster 4.05 denfinatly will not run correctly under .Net Framework 3.5 on XP for sure. If 3.5 won't run Hoster 4 on XP, it won't run on vista either I'm sure. I don't use Vista but I remember hearing that you have to cut off any bacground programs, run in basic mode and set your desktop to windows standard (I think). Bacically cut out all backgraound activity.

Thanks again for helping with a great find. I feel certain since net framework 3.5 is out of you machine, you will find the settings that make Hoster 4.05 run correctly for you.

Jim

Hey Sky,
Net framework 3.5 is not being delivers thropugh windows update so all should be fine.

To see which version of net framework I have, I just go to Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs.

Jim, that's why I asked ... because .net framework is not listed in my Add/Remove programs. I'm glad to know it doesn't come with automatic updates.

Right On. Net Framework 3.5 caused me a couple of hours of grief last night. I sure don't want to see anybody else go through this.

Thanks Fran.

You mean .net framework 3.5 right? You should have .net framework 3 if you've been keeping up with the windows updates, which I know you have.

Jim

I have been talking about my Vista machine. .NET Framework is NOT listed in the "Remove programs". I have like a zillion updates listed also, but Microsoft updates are only listed as "numbers". And 4.03 on Vista seems to be working fine. Am I missing something

On my XP - YES I show Microsoft.NET Framework. However, I still have 2.0 on it. I did all the updates on it also, but don't remember it even asking me to update .NET, soooooooo......go figure!

It's all good. Less can be more but not having netframework 3 and wmp11.......they work for me.

Of course I don't know about Vista.

Hey Jim,
I decided to look in the actual ProgramFiles Folder. Microsoft.NET is listed there, but in Vista it is definitely not listed in Add/Remove Programs (maybe that's another Vista security feature to keep people from un-installing it)

This is another reason why I recommend System Restore.

Exclamation .net framework in vista

in vista the .net framework is hidden, you have to go to control panel/programs and features then over to the left click on turn windows on or off and when the window populates your version of .net framework will be listed there

Exclamation net framework

this dosen't change any setting it just opens a window and shows you other programs that are installed

you have to check or uncheck a program to change a setting
opening the window dosen't change anything but show you what is already installed
