Clicking & No Graphics From Show CDG

What could be the problem. Have updated everything. But when I try to play a song from a cdg with hoster, it just Clicks and No Graphics. I'm setting up a friends computer. Toshiba with Vista. DVD-Ram Matshita UJ-850s ata device. It works for everything else. He just purchased Hoster. But he will have to run the prior version, cause 4.4 keeps freezing. Hoster 3.4 runs great on this computer with the exception of playing a customers cdg. Any help Yall? Thanks

People are having problems with 4.04 on Vista, but 4.03 seems to be working OK. I just installed 4.03 on my Vista & everything is working, including importing from a CDG to the Playlist while a song is playing. Right now 4.04 is working good with XP.

Test the DVD drive with several different disks. Also check the settings. It is possible that it is just importing audio only.

Had you imported a CDG from this same drive before with a previous version of Hoster? If not, it may not even support CDGs, even though it says it does. I have the same problem with a Matshita & there are no updates available on-line for mine. So, I just use my ext.Plextor with my Vista machine.

Install 4.03 on Vista. Many people are having problems with 4.04 on Vista. But 4.04 works well on XP.

I have Matshita UJ-851S - I spent hours on-line searching & there are NO updates for this drive.

Matshita DVD

I stated before that there are no drivers available for Matshita. This was based on my previous search of a couple months ago. I just did another search, and "Driver Detective" claims to have Matshita-specific drivers. I don't know if this is true or not, but may be worth checking out.

it has to have a driver..you probably know this already, but when i want to update my driver..i do the ff..

1. open my comp.
2. open cd/dvd drive
3. click on properties
4. click on hardware
5. when the dialog box open click on your cd/dvd rom
6. click on properties again
7. click on driver
8. click update
a) check install on specific location
when the dialog box open
a) check on " don't search ..."
9. highlight your cd/dvd ( brand )
then click next..it will search for the correct driver..thats how i update my driver..

Billo - please note that my response was for P Stephen who was having trouble with his Matshita drive not showing the graphics after uploading a CDG. My answer was only regarding Matshita since I had the same problem.

Called Toshiba

Toshiba took me to a site and said to download the file and run it. The drive started working with playing a music cd and movie dvd. This did not fix the problem with downloading a song from a cdg into hoster. I did try several brands of cdg's. Will keep trying to fix it. He will have the computer at his home for a couple of weeks, so I am not sure when I will get back to it. Thanks Yall.

My Matshita is on an HP/Vista laptop and the normal way of updating didn't do any good. It never has & still will not read CDGs.

Sounds like the drive is not compatible with cdg's. New drives are pretty cheap. Many LiteOn drives work, I found 2 at MalWart for $40 each, work beautifully.

It's a shame to remove a drive from a new computer that is probably equipped with "LightScribe" and replace it with another one just to play CDGs. That's why I carry my ext. Plextor.

I just bought an external case converting my internal to an external running through a USB 2 port. Works fine. Nothing internally has to be changed at all!

Pretty cool way to get a cheap ext.drive for CDGs. Does that mean it is smaller than a typical ext.drive?

No not really. I have seen some pretty slimlined externals. You have to figure these are using an actual internal unit, surrounded by the case & the internal cables to connect it. But it's just as portable & works great!
