What speed is the drive? 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM? If it is the slower then that can also be a factor. Also is your USB 1.0 or 2.0? Unfortunately you can't change that but it also can be a factor as USB 2.0 is faster.
Since both Lyrics and audio stop and restart at the same time then it really sounds like a delay in reading the data from the drive.
I ran defrag, the drive is a 7200 RPM usb 2.0. I have the drive backed up twice (2 different externals). Since the frequency of this is like every 8 or 9 shows, its hard to tell if the adjustements I make are doing any good. I am going to buy another external to take with me and run this one till the problem stops a show. I may play with the cache and see what happens.

Thank you and everyone else for there input.

Laddie,
Maybe working with the page file size will help. Just a thought.

We hope to release Hoster 4.04 tomorrow or Thursday, if our Beta Testers give us the GO signal. It has some serious speed improvements, and fixes a number of reported bugs.

Hey Laddie,
We just tested 4.04 beta 6 and it needs a few small things changed. 4.04 beta 7 will probably be out tonight. 4.04 beta 6 is running rock soild in the background as I type. My feelings are 4.04 beta 7 will get the "Go" from the Beta Testers and it will be released Monday, I sure pray for it anyway.

Smile Hoster issues upon upgrades

Laddie, I to am one of the people that always seems to have problems when new versions of Hoster comes out ever since we went past the 3.4 version and/or Vista came out. Here is my 2 cents worth. Many of the people on these forums have helped me out numerous times and I DON"T want them to stop giving me advise but many times they are quick to try and blame our problems on our computers, you will constantly be told your video cards need new drivers, your hard drive sounds like it is going bad etc and this may be true but I have been using Hoster for a very long time and have fround from past experience that my computer has never been the issue (I also have the newest compuetrs with the most power and ram available). My problems have ALWAYS been with the Hoster upgrages and the problems have ALWAYS been solved eventually by MTU. I have numerous issues myself with 4.04. 4.03 worked good for me and 4.01 was a disaster. My answer right now is if you have a version that does work for you go back to that until the bugs are worked out of the version you are using. Don't get frantic thinking your computer is to blame or your hard drive is going out. Just hang in there. MTU will eventually fix the problems.

MY ONE WISH-quite adding features that are nice but you really don't need to run a show. All I want is a rock solid program that does not crash and plays the songs when they are suppose to. The more things they add that we really don't need is just more code that can interfer with the program.

Hey Laddie,
Beta 7 was released as planned. MTU has gone through Microsoft's Programer's Database (the one they pay anually for) and found every available piece of information on running video in Vista and still can not get it to behave right. To accomodate this, once again they are having to go back to old stable MTU code.

Videos will run in Vista but with some restrictions (thanks for connecting Bill!)

1. There will be nothing on the preview screen while a video is playing.

2. On the TV the lyrics will show with no Singer Name Display and no Marquee.

It is their only option and will be added Monday.

Just trying to help.

Jim

Laddie,
Let me give you an example of why 4.04's release is taking longer than expected.

Since I posted this MTU has put the old player in 4.04 then they took it back out because one of the Vista testers had success that they did not expect. Microsoft can't tell them how to make Vista behave, they have to stummble upon these successes. Shame on Microsoft. If you can, imagine having to take your car engine apart then put it back together, every day. This is not a normal program devlopment procedure. MTU's guys have been a very busy bunch.

I know this doesn't get you Hoster 4.04 any faster but at least you are in the loop.

Jim
