XP or Vista

I recently installed Hoster 4.3 on my Windows XP laptop and everything is going great! I have decided to purchase a back-up laptop and most new laptops come with Vista. However, if you order a laptop from Dell, you in some cases have the option to order it with Windows XP. I would like some advice on which to do. Those of you that have one system on XP and one on Vista, is there any difference in the installation and running? Knowing what you know now, would you opt for 2 XP machines or would mixing that with a Vista machine make any difference? Thanks

Steve

Yo, Beavis, you saying that you prefer XP? Had any experience with Vista? There is a great sale on laptops (Vista) here right now and I would buy one if I could get a green light from someone that has tried it.

I've been running my Shows on Vista all year, from 3.316 to 3.321 with no real problems. Haven't put 4.03 on it yet, until video is fixed. I first made sure everything was turned off that needed to be before installing Hoster. That worked for me! And now that Hoster is designed to work with both XP and Vista, I think it's just a matter of personal choice. I still have my old XP laptop I keep for backup.

Sky,

Thanks for the response. I already have 4.03 and don't have any video problems.........that I know of! It installed so easily on XP that I am hesitant to change to Vista.

You can play videos on 4.03, but MUX is greyed out because you cannot turn off the singers. If you have singers that sing with multiplex videos, then you will need you run 3.4 to be able change channels. That is to be fixed in 4.04

Steve, I had Vista about a year and a half ago. No matter what I did I had an occasional audio dropout. I upgraded to Windows XP home and have had no further problems. I know that Hoster has been greatly improved since then and there may not be many issues left. However, I would stick with XP.
