upgrading rules

OK, guys, this is tricky.

I have purchased two valid Hoster licenses. I was using on home PC and laptop and then other license on laptop. My dilemma, first laptop window crashed, ouch, reload windows all info gone, even changed name of that laptop. 2nd Laptop i am giving to son going to college and upgrading my own. I am trying to reinstall my 3.3xx versions ok, seems to be getting figured out. I purchased 4.0x version, today went to upgrade one of my laptops to 4.03,,,,,,,nope won't let me says been used elsewhere - but that is not true. How do i get help on this or whom should i be talking to.

Also, for purchasing a new laptop, is 4.03 running well enough on vista that i could purchase new laptop w vista or shoud i buy the xp software for $300 and roll vista laptop back??

Thanks,
Randy Shideler

Submit a Support Email ticket. Be sure you include the computer names you gave them when registering.

Need help to get licensing issues resolved

I submitted on two occasions last week tickets regading my licensing dilemma. I have spent nearly $700 since 2007 for the MTU suite and another valid license of Hoster. Also recenlty bought upgrade 4.xx.

I had one system crash and gave another laptop to kid. Short to a long story, my licensing seems messed up to say the least. Seems I need some sort of unlock code and to reinstall on system brought back to life as well as for some reason my 4.03 says it is already installed (on the crashed system - yes it crashed trying to upgrade to SP3) but that system has a fresh windows install and so that "name" is lost.

I shouldn't have to buy full licenses all over or even go elsewhere for my Karaoke software.

Your Advice is appreciated, in advance.

Thanks,
Randy Shideler

licensing problems, help please

Hello All,
I have submitted two tickets w/ no reply. Upgrading my Service Pack crashed my main laptop, so had to reload windows, lost all info regarding to hoster install. Gave another laptop to my son for college, uninstalled Hoster, even sent MTU the info. Now I have valid licenses and install files, but i can't get my systems going because MTU indicates all my licenses are in use. Whom can i contact regarding this. I have not received a reply from either of the 2 tickets i have submitted. Am i out $650 now.

Thanks in advance,
Randy Shideler

You will need to wait for MTU to unlock your registrations. They don't work on weekends and have been backlogged for a while now, so could be a bit longer.
Did you get confirmation emails back on the tickets you submitted? If not check to make sure they didn't wind up in your spam or being blocked all together.

I review the Forums. MTUSUPPORT handles Support Tickets. We have been backed up with the release of 4.0x.

As you say, you have 2 Hoster RegCodes. You have installed one of them on 2 computers, and the other (....bce0 on CPU Name "Work HP") on 1 computer. The easiest thing to do is use the ....bce0 RegCode to install on your new/rebuilt computer.

I see you have installed 4.00 on the "music dell latitude d820" system. Is it installed and running? This is your UPGRADE RegCode, used to replace your ....cfb31 prior RegCode.

1. Installing an UPGRADE requires upgrading an EXISTING installation, and

2. Once it is installed over a RegCode, it is locked to upgrading that RegCode only.

Please tell me:

1. Which CPU Name ("toshiba #1 music computer" or "music dell latitude d820") failed or is no longer able to run Hoster, I can clear one of them.

2. Are you running with Hoster 4.00 now on one of your computers?

These facts will help me know how to clear your RegCode from the computer no longer in use. If all 3 computers are in use, you have one more computer you can install on.

A Hoster RegCode can install on 2 computers, but MTU can clear it from one or both to install again if needed.

Hoster 4.00 and higher have the ability for YOU to REMOVE it from a computer while ON-LINE over the Internet and YOU removal deletes that Registration Record for that computer, freeing that RegCode to install on a DIFFERENT (3rd) computer.

As stated above, the UPGRADE RegCode must be installed over a prior RegCode. We made a change just before releasing 4.03 that may affect how this works. I'll meet tomorrow with Engineering to discuss this.

However, if you can answer my questions above, I can help you get operation again.

Thanks Admin,

OK, answers are as follows:
(1. Which CPU Name ("toshiba #1 music computer" or "music dell latitude d820") failed or is no longer able to run Hoster, I can clear one of them.)

The music dell latitude is the very first computer and that is the one that the windows OS crashed, i had to reload windows. I also had that license installed on another computer and that one is gone - given to my kid. I did email you the details for that one. So my original license is not on any computers. The toshiba is from my second license purchase made. I believe that hoster 4.0 is locked out because of course i tried to install on the dell latitude before it crashed. So I do not have 4.0 installed and running at all. My toshiba is running 3.23 (?) correctly. That is all I have going at this time.

Seems I need to unlock the original install code and have 4.xx unlocked and I should be good to go.
Thank you for your response. I have been happy w hoster and eager to move forward.

Randy, I deleted your "dell latitude" RegRecord, and your "work HP" as that appears to be the one you sent off to your son.

Check your MTU Store account so you know which RegCode you UPDATED with the Update product. You need to always look there to see what you have. It will show what has been replaced. However... you will need to use the ORIGINAL RegCode to install any prior version (3.321 is a great one to use), and THEN use your UPGRADE RegCode to install 4.03 over it.

Read the manual for 4.03 in the INSTALLATION Topic. It should help you understand. If not, post back here what problems you have, and I'll expand the Topic in the 4.04 manual, and answer your questions.

If I may make a request, its a whole lot faster for us if you just say what you want us to do. We don't need a lot of explanations that muddy up what you are asking. Cut to the chase... ask and ye shall receive faster.

Also can't do a 2nd upgrade to 4.03

I just lost my dell vostro laptop which was just upgraded to Hoster 4.03, so now i tried updating my backup dell vostro desktop but will not take the upgrade. Says it has already been upgraded on another, which is true. Can't I upgrade on two pcs?
Another question. I just lost my main dell vostro laptop with all my kma's on it. Can MTU do anything to disable Hoster from running on that laptop? and can I install Hoster again with same regcode when I get to buy a new laptop? Thanks.

Oh also forgot. I can't upgrade Microstudio 4.006. I have 4.004 but it says it has been on two pcs. I have submited a ticket already but have not gotten any response. I'm not in a hurry since I have Hoster 3.3 already installed.
I have noticed that when I named my lost laptop and also my backup desktop, I used Dell Vostro for both which is true but one's a desktop and the other was a laptop. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.
I have two licenses of Hoster already. Thanks Again.

As long as you have submitted a ticket then they should get to you as soon as they can. Was the ticket for both Microstudio and Hoster? If not be sure to submit another one for the Hoster problem.
Naming both computers the same may be what is causing the two computer issue. Did you include that information in the ticket?
By lost do you mean it was stolen? If you didn't include that on the ticket, be sure to let them know when they contact you.
