4.03 release on Wednesday???

Hello. I read that 4.03 may be released on Wednesday. I have read so many different opinions on "you need this", "don't need that" and "do it this way" for removing old versions of Hoster, installing version XXX of Hoster, etc. that I know that I am not the only one confused out there.

I think that ADMIN should produce, lets say a table that covers what we need prior to installing 4.03 (updates, WMP version, service pack, Internet Explorer version, memory requirements, you name it), do we remove, reinstall 4.03? I think you get my point.
I'll use my computer as a example.
Current Hoster Version installed: 3.321
Operating System: Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Another thing that I think would be good is to make the manual for 4.03 avaiable on your website. This way, I could read it prior to installing 4.03.

Bottom Line: I am overseas right now so I don't need Hoster to make a dollar, but I do use it when I can to entertain myself and the troops. I am not going to install 4.03 until good guidance is given by MTU. Thanks MTU.

Hey ZZ,
I'm not admin but I'll share what I know.

When MTU went back to their old player, they stopped using Window Media Player. This would mean that WMP9 should be good for 4.03.

4.0, 4.01 and 4.02 run best with WMP11.

4.03 should work with Internet Explorer 6 but I like IE7.

4.0, 4.01 and 4.02 run best with IE7

You need at least Direct X9.

If you are running XP, get SP3.

The more RAM the better but I use 512. I do not run videos or WMP in my shows.

Others may post more. I hope this helps clear the smoke.

Jim,
This may need to be clarified witrh some users as well; as it did confuse me when all this first came out, such as:
1) Does IE7 have to be running n the background with 4.0, 4.01, 4.02, or just simply installed on the machine
that is using that version at the time.

It just has to be installed, not running,

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for your input. Let's see what other users and MTU has to say. I want to install 4.03 the right way the first time.

Thanks again.

Upgrade process from 4.02 to 4.03 went without a hitch i.e. did not need to uninstall 4.02. All previously recommended 'applications' and microsoft updates had been actioned already. Am running XP Pro ... not Vista.

Is 4.03 upgrade for sale now?

Are you a beta-tester BEECEE? The MTU website says 4.02, not 4.03. And it sounds like you are using XP. I am glad that it installed for you well. I still want answers to my questions as per my first post before I install 4.03. I still would like to read the manual for 4.03 before I install it. Thanks.

There are no specific updates needed for 4.03. That does not guarantee you won't have any problems if you haven't kept you computer updated.
As always I highly recommend you keep up with the updates, not just for Hoster but to keep your computer running correctly.

From 3.321 to 4.03, taking the leap of faith.

Hello. I took the first step, I bought 4.03 upgrade for my Vista machine. I downloaded 4.03 and "save" it into my program folder.
Questions.
Do I need to remove 3.321 before loading 4.03?
If the answer is no, when I open 4.03, will it ask to remove the older version, replace or upgrade..what do I select?
If the answer is yes, do I remove it using "Add or Remove Software" inside the Control Panel?

If there are additional changes that need to be made PRIOR to installing 4.03, please let me know.
Thanks Hoster Users!

If you bought the upgrade the 3.321 needs to be installed when you upgrade. Unlike in the past Upgrades now require the previous version be installed on the computer you are upgrading, this prevents someone from buying at the upgrade price and installing without having purchased a full version. This was being done and MTU was losing a lot of money.
You have to select Upgrade and not Remove. Both are there because that is a Windows Installer item that can not be modified, but you have to Upgrade.
The only requirements for the upgrade is that you keep your computer up-to-date as they have always said. You do not have to upgrade your IE or WMP though to make this one work.
