upgrades to 4.03

i really wanted to do the upgrade from my old 3.317 to 4.02, but due to a problem updating to sp3 i am not able to, since mtu is going back to the old lyric version, do i still need sp3, or sp2 is good enough to run 4.02 (or 4.03 when it comes out ), i downloaded the demo version on my home pc which still has sp1 on it , and seems to be running fine, i imported a few cdg's and i didnt have any problems playing the songs, songs are insync with the lyrics,.so...

The problem I see with your cloned HDDs is that even Microsoft is going to give you problems (validation) because it is a different drive for your system (C:\) drive. This may also give MTU problems too.
This is all beside the fact that you are running a very big security risk by not fixing the SP3 issue and may not be able to upgrade beyond that. Did you say one system still has SP1 on it? Did you try to go from SP1 to SP3 on that one and have it crash? If so that would be a major reason it did.

i'm sorry i dont really understand why would it be a diff. drive, all i did was replaced the 80gb hhd that came in with my laptop when i bough it, cloned it with 250gb and took the old drive out and put in the cloned drive, and i've been using it on my show laptop for awhile now and so far i havent had any problems, ( knocked on wood ).as a matter of fact i used it last night and no problems..

yeah i know, i just havent had time to work on it, busy working around the house doing an addition, thinking about moving overseas..but anyway, the one that crashed had the sp2 in it and it's my back-up laptop, i also put in a cloned drive on that one before i replaced it with a new drive and did a clean windows re-installaton, the one that has the sp1 is my home pc, that's where i downloaded the hoster demo, and seems to be working fine, no problems, of course i havent tried all the new features in it.

They may for a period of time, but that will probably end (don't know when). I am sure there will be a warning and at that time you would have to upgrade. Resets had gotten to the point of taking up 90% of their support tech's time and left very little time to work on problems.

MTU is dedicated to it's clients, us. In any situation, they will always be fair with their clients (us).

If your hard drive fails (let us pray it doesn't at a bad time) you should have the recovery discs and/or the Windows disk that came with your laptop.

Write down the name (computer name) of your Laptop somewhere and keep it in a safe place, with your passwords and stuff. When you builld your new version of Windows, name the computer exactly the same name. I did this the one time a hard drive got by me (failed) and Hoster installed without having to contact MTU support. I had Hoster installed on my show machine as well so both installs had been used.

I'd also write down the contact information you gave MTU (especially the emal address). This also has to be exactly the same.

You're in good hands with MTU.

Jim

sorry, i'm not with it this morning, but what's gonna end ? me using the old version ? will the old version stop working if i dont upgrade ? i know i have to do the upgrade, almost tried to load sp3 last night, so i could upgrade, but i hesitated, knowing mtu is busy trying to figure out all the new versions glitches, so i decided to wait until maybe when all the glitched are fixed,

MTU resetting registrations. If you have a valid and working copy of the older program then it will continue to work. This isn't something immediate, but a goal they are trying to get to. All the newer programs have the ability to reset themselves essentially. Even will allow you to move the program from one computer to another as long as you uninstall from the first. You don't have to worry about it for a while Billyo.
