Post My First Show with Hoster 4.01

Make my event to test the 4.01 Hoster after eliminating Vista and XP to spend.

Some comments:

Everything was going well until that play voice on the left channel had no way to shut it down. He had to close and open the 3.4. Strange former "Both Vocal-L Vocal-R" worked better.

The sound is different both in Cdgs as video version 3.4 to 4.01.

It's sound is better in version 3.4.

The Cdgs and videos show a small shift in synch.

In my computer screen sometimes the deployment goes faster than what is shown on TV. In TV is correct.

Congratulations on adding an option to watch the remainder of the current singer to the next. Excellent.

In general prefer to use 4.01, but not until these small problems are resolved, I will have to be alternating between the two. My Big Problem is the MUX option.

Thanks...

Mux is not working on Video files yet. It only works on CDG if they are Muxed.
Version 3.4 is a modified 3.321 and a whole different animal from 4.01. The new version 4.01 has a new player setup using a totally different way to display the lyrics, singers name disply, and all the rest of the new added capabilities. That is why you really can't compare how 3.4 does something to how 4.01 does it.

Our first show with 4.1

Like the sound effects, like the additional power for searching for songs, like the ability play zip filed directly.

On the down side, at least a dozen times throughout the show, the program locked up as the song countdown timer reached 0:01. Had to use task manager to shut down, then restart Hoster, delete the song that had just been sung and go on. After the problem continued, I had to stop the song immediately after the music stopped, delete it, then start the next song.

Now, a new demon has emerged...no lyrics at all! All I get is an error message:

! An error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 40
Char: 42
Error: An interface h s too many methods to fire events from
Code: 0
URL: file:///C:/MTU/Hoster/BodyContentDisplay.htm
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Before this weekend's shows, we are uninstalling & returning to the old version!!!

Hope these problems get fixed F-A-S-T!

Are you using 4.00 or 4.01? 4.01 was supposed to fix the line [40] error.
Do you have Internet Explorer 7 loaded? Custom updates?
Also, you do not need to uninstall. You already have a copy of the previous version included with this install. Look in the Program Files\....\Hoster folder and you will see a file called Hoster34.exe which is the 3.321 version. Right click on it and create a shortcut to put on your desktop. Then when 4.01 gives you problems bring up the 3.4 version and continue on.

Using 4.1
We have IE7 with all of the updates to both it & XP. Didn't seem to have a problem until I set all of the things you listed in the manual--registry entries, etc. I double checked them and all seems to be in order.

Found 3.4 & it works fine, perhaps a slight lag in music to lyrics, but passable. We even can keep 4.01 running & use the sound effects..

There were TWO line 40 errors. As Dale points out above, 4.01 did fix one of them.

Your line 40 error happens if you are running an old version of DirectX, or DirectX components are not enabled.
  1. You must have DirectX 9.0c installed, which is the latest update. If not, please click Windows Updates (click Start button, near the top of the menu), click CUSTOM (not EXPRESS), find the DirectX download and approve it to be downloaded and installed.

  2. If DirectX 9.0c is installed, do the following:
    1. Click the Start button
    2. Select Run and enter dxdiag
    3. If using XP go to the "Display" tab
    4. In the middle of the page you will see "DirectX Features"
    5. Enable both directdraw acceleration and direct3D acceleration

I'm sure YOU will fix this before your shows this weekend.

Smile

Thanks...I went in this AM after letting the machine de-toxify all night only to find that the Direct-X version was 9c and all of the settings were as you prescribed. The system tests were normal and when I opened Hoster 4.1, it ran as advertised...go figure!

Thanks for you attention & help.

I used it (4.01) for the first time on the job Friday night. I have all the custom updates and plenty of memory and XP Pro. My laptop is just over a year old.
When I clicked on the play button, it took about 45 seconds to start playing. This happened most of the time. It did not lock at the end. I had to use task manager 3 times to shut it down in the first half hour. I switched to 3.4 for the rest of the evening.
It worked better at home when I was trying it out.
I like the features, but don't trust it on the job yet.

When I select Tools then Edit Songs it also takes about 45 seconds for the window to come up. If I want to edit a song with the pull down menu once again I have to wait.

Both of those bugs have been found and fixed. They are still working out some other problems and hopefully should be able to release 4.02 soon.

I did a "check for updates" and it still does it. I found out only certain song hang up at the start of the song.

The updates are not out yet. When all of the problems are fixed then MTU will release version 4.02 with all of that included. It will be announced in the forum when it releases.
