Question I need a drive/reads CDG's

I purchased A Plextor and microstudio, but the drives in my computer do not read CD-G's. Therefore, I can't copy them. Can you recomment a drive?
Terri

Terri,

Assuming you purchased the Plextor from MTU, possible driver problem. go to the post just above yours in this forum concerning ASPI drivers(how to upgrade aspi drivers...) and follow the instructions in that post. Also might want to go to the Plextor site and download latest drivers for your burner. See if that helps. It's a good place to start. Please post back either way so's support will know if your problem has been solved.Thanks.

take care,

George

Terry, Have you installed the plextor in your computer and do understand that the Plextor will first read the CD+G to your hard drive, then instruct you place a blank Disc in the Plextor and write to it. The one Plextor does it all...

Thanks for your help. I tried the "Send it to the hard drive and then back to Plextor to burn" idea and it worked!
Thanks so much, much easier for me than getting into changing things on my computer. I'm not much of a computer person. I like things nice and simple!

Terry did you figure how to adjust your read and write speeds to cut down on the time it takes to back up a disc??

Glad the program and Plex work for you... Most of us are happy with that hardware-software combination.

CDROM will not copy CDG's, "Not true".

George,
I have the Plextor Ultraplex 40 CDROM (SCSI), and it does read CDG's. A couple of months ago I copied over 300 cdg's using the Ultraplex 40 to read them and the Plextor 12/10/32A to write them. I used DiscDupe 2000 software to go from the CDROM to the CD Writer. The Plextor CDROM is the only CDROM that is able to read CDG's. On my other computer (new one) I am using the Plextor's 48/24/48A & 40/12/40A and CloneCD to copy from one to the other. Can't wait for the new version of Microstudio to come out on the 15th, because it will then be able to recognise the new Plextor 48/24/48A, and be able to copy from writer to writer.

Have a good one!
Ernie

Ernie,
Thanks for the heads up on this one. Consider it a bad day when I can't learn something new, and you got it out of the way early so's I can relax the rest of the day

Seriously, will look into that myself, really wasn't too gung-ho for two burners, for some unlnown reason, but may change my mind before it's all over.

Thanks again,

George
