Cool Waiting...and Hoping it will all work soon....

I, too, have Vista and hoping that the new upgrade can be figured out real soon, as at my other night's show, I noticed some of the songs that the customers wanted to sing, were gone! I re-loaded them when I got home, however, I read the forums and the new upgrade should be able to correct this! I also have 3 Sound Choice disc's #8710, 8713 & 8732 that just won't load (even with my last upgrade) and I was hoping that the new 4.0 will fix that, because I put in an order for a single drawer karaoke machine (at our local Karaoke store), and if I don't have to buy that, then that would be real nice....don't need more bulk...and that was the purpose of getting the whole computer in the first place!!!!!

What kind of error are you getting when you try to load those?

I have a Sound Choice 8712 spotlight series. Alot of old Classic Country. It loads, brings up the names & artist of the songs. But nothing happens when I go to play a song from it.
Cd works fine in the karaoke machine. Then I noticed at the very bottom of the CD it says "mediacloq CDG's will not play in a computer!!!"
Well they got that right!!! I had to delete the whole Cd out of my song book....

Exclamation Disc's that won't play

The 3 Sound Choice disc's that I have, just will not load at all! When I put them in the computer drawer they just go around with some funny little
noise. When I hear that noise, then I know that they aren't going to load.
I have double copies of each and neither of them will load. I wonder if anyone else out there has been able to load any of the 3...They are:
SC8710 SC8713 SC8732

These may be in the same boat as 8712. Look on the labels and see if it says mediacloq on it anywhere. If so they will not import in Hoster because they are protected with an encryption.

Red face Disc's that won't work in Hoster...

The 3 disc's that I have that won't load into Hoster, they are still listed in my books and I bring them to the gig! I've been lucky so far that the people who sing any of those songs, know the words, so they don't need to see the lyrics on the screen. I have a one space Karaoke player on order that I'm going to add to my rack to play them on. I already had one, but strange enough, those disc's didn't play on that player either, so that's why I had to order another one! The disc's do play on all of my old
JVC players, but the JVC's are too big for my rack....as I only have one
space left in it! Such a hassle....all for 3 disc's! Oh, well!

As I recall from those days, MediaQloqued disks would not play in a DVD/CDG type player, maybe that was the problem with your last player. I bought a DVD/CDG player that specificly claimed to work with these disks but it didn't.

These disks are rippable, I'd look around the internet for a solution. It used to be just a select few cdroms would rip them but maybe that has changed.

SC stopped using MQ a long time ago but there are a number of them still out there. Most of them are gone from store shelves but a lot of them were clearenced out to ebay sellers (from what I hear), I don't know the exact numbers that were MQed, I do know some 8600 and 8700's as well as Star's and Powerpicks from the same era.

SC has advertised that IF they reprinted that disk # they will replace it for a $6.00 shipping charge. If they discontinued it then you are stuck.

Thanks Sam!!

I loaded little over 700 CDG's and that was the only one I had a problem with!!!

Wonder if it did get replaced? Alot of good old country classics on it. Hated to take it out of the book.

Thanks again for your reply!!!

Have you tried playing those discs with Microstudio? If so you may be able to import them to the hard drive and then into Hoster.

If they will play the audio only, it may be well worth the time since it's only three discs to import the audio tracks as AUDIO, not karaoke, find the lyrics on the internet, rebuild them with Karaoke Home Producer and then import them into Hoster.

Even that would be worth not messing with them as you are.
