Jack,
using Roxio Spin Doctor in XP Home 98SE upgrade with no problems. Have you tried going to Microsoft and downloading Windows XP Service Pack 1 ? Don't know if this will cure the problem or not, but may. Also I got rid of a bunch of problems with some software that was installed when I upgraded, by totally uninstalling, shutting down for a minute or so to clear memory, and re-installing the software.
