Cool Error 3315

Since there is safety in redundancy, I have cloned 3 external hard drives with all of my kma files and DJ mp3's.

In the process of re-indexing in Hoster, I have encuntered 6-error 3315 messages...something about a mfgr field not being blank. Since the "Help" also returns an error, I have no idea what is going on. I have inspected the database files using the record numbers cited and can find NO errors in any of the fields, particularly in the mfgr field. In fact, there are NO blanks in any of the fields. I suspect that the error exists in the kma file header, not in the DB, but am unsure as to how to fix the problem, if indeed it needs to be fixed. I have manually re-entered the data in each of the records and re-indexed with no change in the error(s). I have also re-imported the songs from a different sources and I get the same results, just a different record number when reindexing.

Am I paranoid or do some of the songs hiccup when converted from either zip/rar or bin ??? It doesn't seem to happen when importing cdg disks, only when I import files and not very often at that. The songs appear to play OK in MicroStudio...but so far I have not played them as part of a show.

Current Hoster version is 3.321

Any suggestions??

Is your total number of records correct or is it 6 short? I had 10 do that to me and it doesn't actually add them to the database because there is a problem with those files. I believe the log lists them as duplicate IDs though they really aren't but at least it lists the diskID - track so you can find them. Check the title and artist fields in the original file name and make sure none are more than 63 characters. If they are then shorten them to 63 maximum. Then re-run the import for those.

The total record count in the dbf is 9331 and when we do the re-build, the count is 9331. There are 9331 kma files in the directory.

If I am correct in assuming that the numbers returned represent the record number in the DB, then the title/artist fields are within the specifications, the longest one being 29 characters.

Bob:
The same thing happens when I refresh. I am aware that to click "no" lets is proceed, but it bugs me when I can't figure out why something is happening. I have even gone so far as to merge and re-index. Still the same results -- 6 errors with no reason.

Misread your post...I am able to refresh in MicroStudio with no problem, only occasionally the first 4 songs have no title/artist info. If I enter them in MicroStudio, all is well.

My main gripe with MicroStudio is that it only reads the first file if the import directory is a zip or rar. Convert them to mp3G or bin and it works fine.

It is not that it reads only the first file in the zip but will only show in the list the MP3. When you play them it does play right with the lyrics.
That is if you only have one song (2 files) per zip which is the way it is supposed to be. If you are zipping multiple songs in one zip then neither Hoster or Microstudio will read beyond the first song.

Question

I understand all of that, but these songs have all been re-named to ensure compliance with proper import protocol (Artist_-_Title) and checked with either WinZip or WinRAR to ensure that only the two files are contained therein. This is the point where I check to ensure that the lyrics are clean and clear and that the audio is properly syncronized with them. It is also my last chance to verify that the title and artist are correct and that there are no objectionable lyrics. (We run a family-oriented show with no pofanity or suggestive music allowed).

This is when I am trying to load them into MicroStudio for checking before importing into Hoster. The directory used is clean and clear and as I mentioned only the first song will import. The others show as errors. The imported song plays correctly. The only way I can get MicroStudio to read the files is to convert them back to mp3+g, kma or bin files. Then all works as advertised.

We are using XPPro in all of our machines with all current patches applied. MicroStudio version is 4.06

I have tried WinZip 10.0, WinRAR and SongVerter, but most commonly, I use MP3+G Toolz. The results are the same for any of these programs. MicroStudio will not recognize anything but the first file in the directory.

I take it you have tried using the Refresh Button to see if it would pick them up?

We'll try to take a look at this today. We have a scheduled upgrade for Microstudio happening this week.

This is the first time I'm aware of this, so thank you for reporting!

Well, here it is 3 months later and we now can come up for a breath. Vista is a real piece of work. We wasted 4 months trying to make Hoster work on it. We MAY now have an answer, but..............

We have tried to re-create your problem; i.e. the first file in a folder being a ZIP, but have not failed once.

I called and you so graciously are going to provide us with example ZIP and RAR files.

Once we have example files, I'm sure we can naiil down what the problem is.

Currently we do not support the .rar extension, but will consider it in the future. Right now, we have a short window before we are back on Hoster and want to get some new changes and features into Microstudio.

MicroStudio Files

My Outlook has not indicated that you received the files...I trust that what I sent was received and what you needed to duplicate the problem.

I am sorry, we tried to call you twice to say we never got your files. Please attach them here and I'll delete them later. Be sure to ZIP them, other formats may not work. Also, please clearly explain in your Thread with the attachment what they will show us so we don't have to decipher what the problem is. We will be looking at this 3315 error message tomorrow as to its cause. Your files can be of value in our hunt.

As we said on the phone, we have never supported RAR format files.

When I attempt these files in MicroStudio, the first one ONLY imports, the others get the error message. This phenomenon occurs on all of my machines--2-laptops with XP Pro and 2-desktops (one with XP, one with Vista yuck)

These files were always ZIP files as far as I know, never have been RAR. They are the original downloaded files. I have taken copies unzipped & rezipped--no luck. I am able to import into MicroStudio when they have been converted to BIN or MP3+G.

Hope the uploaded file is not too large.
