Now I see what you are saying, and it's definately not doing what it should.

What version of Hoster are you running? I think this was an issue when "merge" first came out, but not since, and that was a long time ago.

If you've got 3.321 you can add KMA's to the playlist via the mp3g tab at the top of the playlist. It might be interesting to see if they work properly when added this way.

If you've got Access from Microsoft you can change the book id's, it's a little complicated but it can be done.

I have 3.316 on my show computer & 3.321 on my home computer. This also happened here at home as well when I tried to merge so it isn't an older version issue.
I tried adding via the mp3g tab & I could add it this way & it played. But this isn't how I would prefer. So does the merge not work properly or is it really supposed to change the book id into a useable number if it is a duplicate of a already used number?

It is supposed to change the bookid in your situation. As to why it's not working properly I don't know. I'll try and recreate it on my computer and see if it's a problem for me as well.

Using 3.317 which is what i've got on my laptop. I created a kma with an existing bookid with different brand and diskid and merged it into the database. Hoster renumbered it to the next available bookid as it is supposed to.
Still not sure why it's not working for you

Yeah I just tried again. Rebuilt the database, then merged the duplicates. When I rebuilt it took all duplicates out, then I merged & it brought them all back in again with the same numbers as before.

Ttowntenor, you are understanding how Merge is supposed to work.

"While merging, if a BookID is found that already exists in the Songs Database, the BookID stored in the KMA file being merged is renumbered to the lowest free BookID available."

I've not heard this problem before. Thus, my first inclination is to suggest your reinstall Hoster from scratch by doing a REMOVE then Installing again. I would use 3.321 as it is the latest release.

I'm interested to hear what you find after installing. If the problem persists, we would need to get 4 files from you; 2 pairs of duplicate BookID's to dissect and see what the Headers contain. That is the source of what we use in the Merge.
