Question Putting the Pioneer Laser disks into Hoster?

I did a search, but did not come up with what has probably been asked and answered many times. I want to put my entire 12" and 8" Pioneer karaoke laser disc collection into Hoster if possible - They are getting old and I do not want to carry them around, but I still love the graphics.

How do I get them into the Hoster hard drive? Is there a way to save these old masters? I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Thank you,

Kenng

You would need a program to convert them to a usable Hoster format, because Hoster can't read them. They would need to be converted to something like a VCD or AVI file.

We are working on the hardware/software to digitize your LD tracks to the hard drive as video files.

Hoster 4.000 already has the means to "import" video files as HDVID KMA files indexed in the Songs Database.

We are working with a new customer right now to select the compression quality so we know how much hard drive will be needed. We now offer 500GB and soon a 1TB drive.

We hope to have something ready during April.

I was referring to an optional video/audio capture hardware and software to digitize the Laser Disc tracks as video files, then convert them to KMA files in the Songs Database.

Yes.

We're testing Beta 17 right now. We expect Beta 18 next week, then Beta 19 the following week. Hopefully 19 is the last major coding release. Target release is April 30, but that is NOT, repeat NOT a promise. If you know MTU, we don't let it out until it is ready.

What version do you have of Hoster?
The current version 3.321 will let you play them from the hard drive but not from CDs or DVDs. This is done from the main screen and Hoster does not retain them in the songs database.
As Admin said Hoster 4.000 will have the capability to import them (again from the hard drive), and add them to the songs database which will mean they will be in the songbook printout too. This version is still being worked on and tested. No exact release date is set yet by them.

Converting Laser disk to vcd is a long and time consuming process but it is possible. I have 25000 kma's and 2600 vcd which i use for my karaoke system. This is only for my home entertainment and SOME of them are laser disk which i converted to .dat file to be played as video on hoster. If you are really serious of saving your laser disk, it can be done with the help of few free software to be use, but you have to put your time into it. Note* i only convert some song in the laser disk if i can't find them elsewhere. And also, It is better to look around for a vcd version of your laser disk than spending time doing it,,

Admin,
When would an optional video/audio capture hardware and software be available for purchase. Would that be about the same time 4.0 is ready or way down the road. I would rather wait for what mtu will have to offer than start messing with converting VCD's, DVD's, & Laser Disc's and then not be able to have them in database. I am assuming that to have the ability to roll these video files into database I would need to upgrade to 4.0. But, if I just wanted to convert these disc's and use them in version I have. When would that option be available? (Best Guestimate)
