I understand putting 'Ignore' to for existing track numbers, but that doesn't work if there is nothing in the filename to ignore. Am I correct, then, in understanding that there is just no current fix for this problem? If so I will wait patiently for an update, or patch.

Dropping back to 3.316 is really the only option right now until MTU comes up with a solution.

Gotcha. What's the most painless way to downgrade back to 3.316?

Just install 3.316 over 3.317. I would say the best way is to remove rather than update.

Is there an easy place to grab the download for 3.316? Or do I just need to go back through my e-mails? I not sure if I still have the old .exe on my computer (though I might... can't check at the moment, I'm at work

If you don't have it then you are out of luck for that. Once a new update is posted the old one isn't available anymore.
Just wait a day or two and I think things will change. MTU is working on a few of the posted bugs to release an update of.
