When you first open it in Access it usually will ask if you want to convert it to current version. Just tell it NO. Not all of the current features will be available but it will also re-save after editing in the original (97) version.
If you copied it back to the correct location (C:\Program Files\Micro Technologies Unlimited\Hoster\database) it should have over-written the old one, so it couldn't be using it unless you wrote it to the wrong location.

it never asked me to convert the first time i opened it in access 2000.

Hoster 3.317 and below ONLY uses Access 97. We are considering also supporting 2000 if feasible. However, the 97 "jetengine" is only 8MB, and the 2000 "jetengine" is 60+MB... which is not feasible to download.
The manual states "The Songs Database is in Access 97, 16-bit format. It can be opened and modified with Microsoft Access 97 or 2000. To use it with Access 2000, you must first convert it from 97 format to 2000 format, make your changes, then export it back to 97 format so Hoster can open it again." You are trying to be a power user. You can do this, but you must follow the instructions above. Dale is right. If you write the new Access 97 format Songs.mdb back to the correct folder, which is slightly wrong. The exact address is: C:\Program Files\Micro Technologies Unlimited\Hoster\databases Put it back here, in the right 97 format and Hoster will find and use it. |

I opened and updated access database. Then I concerted to 97 and placed in folder and renamed it songs.mdb. I know it is not recognizing it because my changes dont show up in hoster. I will try again tomorrow when i go back to work. Should i delete all other instances of the songs databases?

that is the information that i am able to update within access and then , yes, go into hoster, search for song or sings i updated and the results show in hoster. In hoster itself, you cannot pull up one artist and then correct spelling or capitalize more than one at a time. This is why I go into the database file in the first place.

Right above those listings you'll see a button marked "compatability files". Click on that and voila there you should see the old songs.mdb that Hoster is still accesing. Just copy the new songs.mdb into this location and it should start working for you . With Vista anytime you can't find something or something doesn't behave as expected it's usually because of the "compatbility file" thing. And if this isn't it post back and we'll try something else. By George, I think you've got it! I logged in using go to my pc and found the compatibility button. I will try it tonight. Need to do a few updates anyway. Will let you know but I think this is the issue and would be the same for anyone that uses vista and wants to update their database via access.
