The newer Microstudio requires windows updates that were not necessary with the older versions.

Here's a link to the Microsoft Windows update page. Be sure to use CUSTOM, and take them all. Don't use EXPRESS update as you may not get the ones you need if you use EXPRESS.

Hope this gets you going.

George,

I followed your advice and download Microsoft updates except for IE7. I then tried again with the same results, so I uninstalled ver. 4.003 and reinstalled ver. 4.000. My problem has disappeared. Not sure what the newer version does, but I'll stay with the "old" version for now, it works.

Thanks,
Wes

Thumbs down new update not working

I'm having the same problem with the 4004 update. It won't write anymore. I just did all the windows update. Just bought DVD/cdr from MTU. It worked until the update What gives.

What type of files are you both trying to write to CD? By any chance are they Songverted files or straight imports from Hoster or Microstudio?

I had the same issues just recently and I updated my XP as Dale suggested. He also suggested I make sure I had the most current Firmware for my new drive. I also purchased that drive from MTU and after doing both of these things I am working fine. You may want to check your firmware version.

Jim,
Is that one of the Optiarc drives? What version of firmware are you using and where did you find it?
