Angry Lost mine too

Ok, What if you've followed the instructions in the manual and you still can't find your .kma files? I chose build database and it came up with 0 entries.

What's wrong with helping out. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all. Or have we thrown that out the window.

This would tend to indicate that the folder you selected did not contain KMA's. If the selected folder (see attachment) does not display KMA's, you are not in the right folder.

Generally speaking the forum is here for those problems that crop up inspite of reading/studying the manual not instead of. George has been on these forums for many years offering help and advice to an inumerable number of users of MTU products - myself included. Sometimes the written word does not contain the spirit of the advice given. I don't think George was trying to be nice or not nice, it's just that reading and understanding the manual will answer most users questions and should be the first resort not the last.

Yes, and the thread in which you posted your problem extended to 52 posts including some by myself all trying to help you. You asked for help and are getting it. Rather hard pressed to see what you're complaining about.

Is the folder listed in the top section of the Rebuild database window the same folder you found your KMA files in? Are they on an external hard drive and if so does the drive letter in the top section match the drive letter of that external drive. (Sometimes Windows will change the letter on external drives)
If this is all correct what operating system (XP or Vista)?

That means that Vista has hidden them from Hoster, because they weren't created by Hoster on this machine....Boy do I love Vista!!

The easiest way to fix this and other problems with Vista is to turn off the UNC. There is a FAQ on the Support Page of the Website about how to fix this.

It's your problem child,LOL

Dale,

I did what you told me to the 'T'. Vista has been a nightmare for me and for all of you who have to deal with me, LOL. I hope you are laughing too.

That didn't fix the problem. I had to search hidden folders until I found them.

I have another question about the MS updates. In vista, I can't get it to give me the option of custom or express. There is some automatic update thing that chooses it for you. Do you know if there is a way to turn that on and off. I have tried but my puter skills don't go that deep.

Thanks for all your help.

Dolly

On your Start menu should be an entry for Windows Update, which takes you to the Microsoft web site. That is where you will find the Express and Custom update entries.
Your hidden folder - You need to right click on the folder, then go to Properties. Find the Security tab and click on it. Add or change Users to full control. That way anyone logged in can use those file.

Wink Thanks to those who were helpful

Yes we did fix the problem. Yes we have read alot of the manual. To let you all know. I have two businesses that I run, two diabetic children, a son needing the the help of an ankle specialist that we have to find a way to afford, and a whole lot of other things besides these troubles. When I am asked for help, I help first then I show them were I got the info. Even for my competitors in business I do this. I must add, the instructions are not spelled out too clearly on some things. I didn't get back before now because we were reading and fixing but now it works. Now does anyone know why it happens to drop my data base so I can avoid doing that? Or should I read the manual? Again, Thanks to those who were helpful.

P.S. We did rebuild the data base, we found no files, but when we searched windows we could find them that way. We cut and pasted the file name but it still didn't work. We reinstalled about half of our music and then it recognized the rest of the music,,,,, we think. Again thanks for the help.

P.s.s. My family is from Kodiak Island, learnig to fish was taught to me many years ago and I'm pretty good at it. It is this program that I'm having trouble with. I don't have time to fish anymore so I have even less time to sing, let alone read the manual. Singing is very good for the BP so I do it every chance I get. Hopefully tonight I can sneek away to the pond and drop a line and tip a bottle for some R&R. Again Thanks.

Thank You

I've been using Hoster for years. The only time I've had a problem is when I get a new laptop with a new OS. (I'm on my third.) Vista was giving me fits, but I always find the answer I need on here!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
