I may be missing something here but this does not sound like it is legal. If your boss has several kj's and he is trying to use these cdg's for more than one kj without actually having a set of original cdg's, I don't think this is legal. If he does have an original set for each kj and he is trying to expedite the ripping process by loading a hard drive, this may be legal but what you are asking sounds a little shady to me. What do you think MTU?

PS: If I am all wet here, please accept my apology in advance.

yes you are all wet.......apology accepted.....we have all the originals problem is, it is almost 700 disc's, and in an effort to ensure we are not breaking any laws, i came here looking for advice. The new dj's are not wanting to put up any money for the hoster program at this time since they are new and don't want to invest any money into this since they are "on probation" and this might not work out for them, becuase then they would be in the hole for nothing(the boss make's us purchase our programs, it is a sign of commiment and since it is on our comp.'s it would be hard to say "i want my program back".) The ultimate reason I am here is to see if there is a way to convert the kma's without reripping the entire library (if you are a dj, you can appreciate the attempt at not reripping almost 700 cd's), if not, then so be it.

Again, you are making it sound like they have 1 set of originals that get ripped multiple times - which isn't legal. Multiple shows need a complete individual disc set PER show.

As far as conversion back to mp3g, you will need to re-rip!

Do they have to purchase their own set of discs too or does the boss pay for that? And what is preventing them from saving a set of the song files if they decide not to continue with the company?
I know that's off the subject but couldn't help thinking it. I guess they are going to have to work to get their shows going.

on a note about this, we have the original disc's we purchased and the handfull of Hoster programs we purchased and currently have the programs on thier assigned comp's. I am simply tring to see if we can convert the already ripped library of cd+g's currently on our comp's from kma to another format that the new dj's can use without reripping the entire library becuase unlike most companies, we use our comp's for karaoke shows not the disc's .....but if not then so be it......okay
