Curious

I AM PLANNING TO BUY THE HOSTER PROGRAM IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BUT I AM BAFFLED BY ONE PROBLEM THAT I NOTICED IN THE DEMO VERSION. SAY YOU HAVE 20 PEOPLE SINGING, STARTING WITH A FELLA NAMED GLENN (example) YOU GO THROUGH ALL THE SINGERS THEN YOU ARE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST AT GLENN, BUT HIS SONG HAS PLAYED. DO YOU HAVE TO ENTER HIS NEW SONG AND EVERYONE ELSE'S SONG AFTER THAT, OR DO YOU ASK EVERYONE SINGING FOR ALL THE SONGS THEY ARE SINGING TONIGHT UP FRONT? THAT WOULD BE UNUSUAL FOR ME.ALSO ONCE THE SONG LIST HAS WENT BY ONE TIME. CAN YOU CHANGE THE SONG AND KEEP THE SINGER'S NAME IN THAT PLACE? PLEASE ADVISE HELLO TO ALL AT MTU. THIS PLACE ROCKS. SUCH NICE PEOPLE. MUST ENJOY THIS BEFORE MY NEXT GIG LOL

Hoster doesn't currently work in a "Rotation" method just a continuous list of songs and singers. You control the rotation. Which means for each song to be played you enter the BookID, singer's name and keychange (if needed) then click on Add Track. This always adds to the bottom of the list. If you need to change the order you drag and drop the one that needs to be moved and the list will shift to place it correctly.
Currently you cannot keep the names and can not modify what is already in the list. If a singer changes their mind and wants to sing a different song you make a new entry up top, delete the old, and move the new to the correct location.
I say currently, because there have been suggestions discussed in the New Features section about adding a Rotation Control and singer database for storing names and bookids for their favorites. This would be future additions if MTU does decide it is viable.

Smile thanks

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. IF A ROTATION WOULD BE ADDED TO THE HOSTER PROGRAM THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. BUT FOR NOW DRAGGING THE NEW SONG WITH THE SAME SINGER IS O.K. PROBLEM FOR THE KJ WOULD BE RETYPING THE SINGERS NAME AND NEW SONG EVERYTIME THE ROTATION GOES AROUND. AS IT IS COULD PROVE HECTIC WHEN THE CLUB IS HOPPING WITH LARGE POPULATION OF SINGERS. IF THE NAMES COULD STAY IN THEIR ROTATION AND SIMPLY REPLACE OLD SONG FOR NEW ONE, JUST IMAGINE TIME AND EFFORT SAVED ON THE PART OF THE K.J. ALSO WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT SINGERS HAVING A FAVORITES LIST, IF YOU DO THE SAME CLUBS ALOT OF TIMES, THAT WOULD MAKE HOSTER THE MOST AWESOME TOOL FOR ME I HAVE EVER SEEN. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THAT THE WRONG WAY, FROM WHAT I AM HEARING YOU HAVE NO ONE IN YOUR LEAGUE NOW. YOUR SUPPORT IS AWESOME. THANX FOR EVERYTHING..... DENNIS

The only time you should have to drag the entry is if it is out of order. I use Notepad open to the side to list my rotation and then just enter each singer's songs in the order I want them played. In other words after entering the first rotation, then I start entering the second rotation's entries. The only time I have to drag any is if someone comes in late then I add them to the bottom of the current rotation, so after entering their info I drag it to the correct position at the end of the current rotation. I usually stay ahead at least 2 rotations (example - 20 singers=40+ entries).

I also use Notepad off to the side to keep the current rotation.
Once the name is in the notepad list you can:
highlight the singers name,
right click the mouse and click "Copy",
move the cursor to "Singer",
right click the mouse and click "Paste."

No typing, just three mouse clicks.

One thing I do is keep a small white board labeled 1-50. I then write each singers name beside a number. When I enter there song in hoster I type the number beside their name ie George 5. This way I can easily see how to move the songs up and down to keep the rotation straight. As a singer who has already sang gives me a new song slip I ad them and then go to the already played song and click in the area where their name is and highlight it. Then using "Ctrl C for copy and Ctrl V for paste" I paste the name in the name area for the new song. I hope this was not too confusing.

I have Windowas Vista Home Premium & Hoster works perfectly with it! Except for a couple of older programs I have that dont work anymore, I haven't had a complaint with Vista yet.

No such thing as overkill when it comes to media/entertainment systems IMO. In my eyes the faster the processor, more memory, high end video card & sound card is a must. Lessens the chances of glitching.
As far as choosing Vista, I wouldn't have a clue, I got what came with my new tower & know it works with Hoster.

1 thing you might want to do is max out the memory. My laptop has 2 g and I had audio dropouts when I was using Vista. Works great after switching to Windows XP. With the new changes that have been made to Hoster it might work just fine with 2 g. Vista is a memory hog so the more memory the better..

I agree with Upnext. Also, Dell will sell you a system with Windows XP. 2gb of ram on XP is wonderful. I would make sure that the laptop has an s-video jack.

Maybe that is what he heard, because I heard that Dell was going to stop selling XP with their systems within the begining of the year.

Microsoft has had to back off on their discontinuing support for XP because many large corporations and government agencies have refused to go to Vista until it is fixed.

XP rocks... Vista is a problem child. Stay XP as long as you can. One day Microsoft MUST fix all the Vista complaints, but currently they aren't even at SR1!

If you have the Hoster demo, read the manual on your questions. I think you'll find most of the answers.

We DEFINITELY are doing Show Rotation as a Tools menu Mode switch command. Disabled you use the standard Playlist. Enabled you get Rotation with Singer slots, multiple songs per slot (add all when they come in, or as they make requests).

We DEFINITELY are doing Singer's Database. You... the Host... decide what name you call each singer. If you have 10 "Bob's", good luck! You decide what to call them. You'll be able to assign a Singer's name to a slot in the Rotation, then - If I get my way (usually do ) - if you search for that Singer, when you add a song from their list it'll automatically go to their slot, placed at the bottom of their slot order. You'll be able to move songs within a slot, and move slots in the Rotation. How else will you let a new singer in?

Now you know 2 of the features in Hoster 4.00x.
