Audio card problem
Just bought a Mia Midi PCI card from Echo Audio for my Hoster 3.316 box (Win XP Pro). I did this to be able to output at pro-level (+4 dBu) for my sound equipment.
It works great off the bat, but Hoster has been stopping all audio output after several songs in the middle of a song, sometimes with a high pitched beep first. Other times it has been rebooting the box. Other audio apps don't have any problem playing nice. Anyone have any experience with this? How can I fix it? I'm using the most up to date card drivers. |

I'm afraid I don't have any experience with these cards but somewhere to start would be to check the event viewer, both for applications and system. If it recorded a problem it will usually give you an error msg and a link to Microsoft Help that might provide an answer or at least a clue.

Only Sound Card
Is the "Mia Midi PCI card from Echo Audio " the only sound card in the machine? I would remove the old card to avoid possible conflict. Some motherboards have audio built in. If this is the case try disabling it through the device manager.
I Hope This Helps Jim

even though you bought it new, i would go get the latest drivers for it from their website.

Audio card suggestions?
I still can't get it to work consistently. I've got the newest drivers and disabled the onboard audio, but I get regular BSOD and sometimes sound output loss. It's going back to the vendor tomorrow.
Anyone have any suggestions for a PCI card in the $100-$200 range that can output at +4dBu in XP Pro MCE? |

I use the M-Audio 192 Audiophile, works great, never had a glitch.

On M-Audio's product page it says they don't support Media Center Edition, though I thought the Media Center part was essentially a bolt-on application. Any thoughts or experiences?

I don't use Media Center so couldn't comment. It works on everything i've thrown at it though.
