61, started about 6yrs ago, the wife has been at it for 15yrs (good move on my part) Karaoke and DJ was going to be my retirement business kinda a Plan B if you will. Got going well enough when GM offered me a good pension and a $35K bonus to retire, Plan B became Plan A. Sometimes I think being a minister gets me gigs when I tie a few knots, and ask if they have a DJ and vice versa. Last two I done became Karaoke fests, and with Hoster I love it.

Hey All,
Looks like I take the honour of being the oldest member of our little community.
72 in May, have been dabbling with this stuff for approx 20 years.
Didn't get into it really seriously until I discovered MTU about 6 years ago.
Our area is getting a bit depressed with a lot of useless KJs, who have all the right equipment but really couldn't run a booze up in a brewery.
Money is also depreciating with some KJs working for £40 ($80 US) for 4 hours
I don't really need the money but wouldn't work for that paltry fee, rather do it on a voluntary basis for groups who benefit the community.
The response from retirement homes is really staggering.
Everybody likes to sing!!!!
Regards from across the pond
Garry

Very true Bob. I also find the older I get, the less patience I have seem to with the "immature" ones out there regardless of their age.

Very True, like the ones who cant fill out a karaoke slip.
they put in the artist name instead of their name.
or they point at the mics and ask, do these things work.
I tell them no i just put them there for decoration, so sing real loud.

Wow,...thought I was old at 40. Nice to know that I still have a few more years left. Been doing this 12 years.

You're not old at 40, and neither are we at 50.
