The HDD Imported Files Log could not be opened

I am getting the following message when I try to import zip files.
"The HDD Imported Files Log could not be opened" This message keeps coming up and is preventing me from importing. I read another post on this and the answer might have been that there was not enough space on the HDD. I am using the latest version of hoster. I am trying to transfer from one USB external to the other. There is 450 GB of free space on the destination drive. I am using windows XP on a Dell Inspirion with 1GB of memory. Any Ideas?

That file is just a small text file located in the source folder (with your original Zips or mp3g's).
Take a look and see if it's there (which it should be if you've imported anything from that folder). Try and open it manually (should open in Notepad). If it won't open manually then it may be corrupt.

Go to the folder in Windows Explorer.
If you cannot see any extensions on the file names (such as ".zip") then go to Tools/Folder Options at top of window. Go to View tab and check all boxes between Files and Folders and Hidden Files and Folders, then set Show hidden files and folders and uncheck the next 2 boxes. Click OK. This will allow you to see all files and their extensions.
Now look for a file with the extension of ".TXT" and there will only be one. Delete the file and you will get the entire list in the import screen. If you have files in there that have already been imported you may want to move them unless you want to re-import them.

There is no file with a .txt extension. The only file in that folder other than the zip files is 1 desktop.ini

Right click on the Folder itself, go to properties and make sure the folder isn't "Read Only" (at bottom of property window).

The file itself will be named "ImportedFiles" (no space - one word). If no extensions are shown, under the "Type" column it should say "Text Document".
If no such file is found I would open Notepad and save a blank .txt with the ImportedFiles name in that folder, and see what happens.
I don't know if you are batch file importing or what but like Dale suggested if you don't want to reimport stuff already done I would move them first.

Just a question. Why would it have this file anyway if it has not been imported from? I also tried to create this text file but it would not allow me to save it in this folder. It said to check the path to make sure it is correct. So I saved it in my documents and tried to drag and drop it in the folder but I got an error saying "Directory or File cannot be created"

Hmmm... This indicates it's something non-Hoster related going on.

Is the folders "Read Only" still unchecked?
Can you create any .txt file in that folder?

Dunno. Perhaps it can't open it because it can't create it in the first place. Pure speculation.

The folder is read only but if I uncheck it, close the folder and then look at it in properties it is checked. I also can't create a text file, it says "Directory or file cannot be created"

Are you clicking the apply" button after unchecking the box?

Also is there some kind of security scheme on that drive or folder?
If you click on the security tab after going to properties you can check and make sure something didn't change your ability to acces.

As Sam said, click on the security tab and add Everyone and give Everyone full control. You will have to be logged in as an administrator to make these changes including resetting the read only.

Yes I clicked apply. When I go into properties there is no security tab.
There is only General, Sharing, Customize.

I worked around the problem by moving all of the zip files out of the folder into a newly created folder. But now I have another problem which has to be Hoster. Every time I click add files whether it is batch or single I get a message saying "please select brand" so I select brand and hit add files and the message pops up again. Over and over again. Now what?

What items do you have included in the file name? Title, Artist, and ??
How many files in the folder?
Hoster has to be very specific to import these in order for it to set the database correctly. If something isn't correct or isn't in the name then the question will pop up for every file that doesn't exactly match the parameters you set.

Disc ID - Track - Artist - Title. They are perfectly matched. Also when you don't have the parameters correct you will get an error stating that the parameters are not correct. This is telling me I need to select a brand name when I have already put one in there. But every time I hit add files the brand name I have selected disappears and the error message saying select brand name appears. We are certainly talking about 2 different things.

The question then is do you have only one brand in the folder? And keep in mind that there are multple Chart Buster types like Essential 450, Essential Plus 452, etc. Each of these are classified as a Brand name. So you will have to put in the brand name for each one of the discs, that is why it asks multiple times.
The best way I can see to do this is to copy each discs files to an "import" folder, import them and then delete them from that folder and copy the next discs files in.
Another option would be to create a folder for each disc.
Maybe someone else can come up with a better way, but this late at night I can't think of any other way to do it.

I again worked around the problem. Here's the thing, I was choosing custom assembly and hoster was taking that out of the selection and asking me to select a brand. Custom assembly is one of the choices. It has worked in the past even when I had three different manufactures. But all of a sudden now it was not working. As for creating a folder for each disc. That would work great if Hoster had the ability (like any other kj/dj program out there) to search sub folders. I have spent a great deal of time taking all of these files out of folders and sub folders. Dale I appreciate your efforts and the efforts of other users to help me but it bothers me that MTU support does not answer any of these posts. On a forum for a program called OTS which is music and not Karaoke so does not compete with MTU works much differently. There support team monitors and is very much a part of the forums. When there is a technical problem they are right there. I have read many posts on this forum and it seems to me that importing files has quite a few problems. It is quite frustrating.

If you use custom assembly then you need to "Ignore" the discid in your names and assign your own. Also you cannot do a custom assembly with more than 99 tracks and the track # cannot be a duplicate one, so you may need to "Ignore" that too. This is why it is asking the questions.
As far as MTU answering these forum posts, they do, just look around at the many posts by Admin and MTUSupport, but they are stepping in when the rest of us can't figure out the answer. Most of the time problems are solved by other users who have had experience with your problem. MTU is not a giant corporation that has a large support section.
