Really weird occurence with singer's disk.

Last night at a gig I was using my Hoster test machine as seen in my signature while the following happened.

I imported a singer's disk ok. Went in as usual. I moved the song around in the playlist to her order in the rotation. Twenty minutes later when I hit play, the song turned to error and a message came up saying something like "cannot find your song, it could have been moved to another HD", or something like that.

I imported again and it went in again and played the second time clear as a bell.

The scary part about this is this girl may be using this disk this Saturday at a highly advertised karaoke competition in town where I have been asked to host.
I checked the disk and it was really clean. I have already spoken to all contestants to make sure that if they DO bring in their own disks that they are really cleaned up and give them to me an hour early. However, I would not have thought of replaying each one if they imported correctly.

Is there anything anyone can think of that could have allowed the song to import perfectly as always but error out when I clicked on play?

Have you ever had this happen before?

How long was it since your booted your computer up?

Was it hot so the computer may have been overheating?

Is the power in the venue clean or "noisy"? Do you use a UPS or a spike suppression power conditioner?

My guess is one of the above conditions may have affected your computer, especially if this has never happened before. I have never heard this problem reported before.

Never happened before?

Booted at 8:30; occurence was at 10:30.

Sort of a warm spot in the room, but a fan does blow into a computer the barowner has in that same little space.

I saw a UPS thing on the floor in that space as well. I might guess that the power there, also for lighting, their computer, TV, etc. could be considered dirty. See a spaghetti of wires on the floor.

I always seem to get the real weird stuff happen, don't I.
