Merging KMA files from one computer to another
Hello
I am having trouble merging KMA files from my desktop to my laptop. When I go to my laptop and select merge kma files the program tells me that is merging and the number of files. Yet when it is done I don't have the merged files on my laptop. I go to tools and select merge KMA files and select the source for the files to be merged and then select hit merge it tells me that it is currently processing merge DB track ** of ** and when it is finished it says no new songs were added to the database. On my desktop I had 1895 songs and on my laptop I had 5**+ only. Can someone tell me what I am doing incorrectly. Thanks Alan |

merging songs
I think I figured it out now. I wasn't updating my database. I just did it and all the songs are now there. I will post again if I still have problems. I am using Hoster on my desktop 2.0g 160hd with wireless connection to laptop. Thanks Alan

If I understand this correctly, I think you are heading for trouble. You are running Hoster from the desktop with some of your songs on the local hard drive and the rest on the laptops hard drive which you are connected to via wireless network. Is this right?
Unless that wireless connection is one of the newest as in the 54mbs type and your laptop hardrive access is fast, then I forsee stuttering audio and graphics happening. You would really be better off to get you a large external usb hard drive and keep all your song files on it.

The reason I asked about your "source" is that it sounded as though you were expecting those songs to be transfered to a different location, which they won't, they remain in their original location. Sam

importing hoster congs from different hard drive
I think you misunderstood. I am running my show from the laptop. The desktop is only for importing the songs as the cd on my laptop doesnt read the cdg's. Then I import them from the desktop to the laptop and when I look at the songs in the laptop the ones I just imported ae not there. The only they show is if update the data base. I also haved to copy and paste all the songs and the program which takes many hours. I have to be doin g something wrong. Thanks Alan

merging KMA files
Thank you very much. I finally figured that out and it really does work. I still don't know how to merge the songs tho. I must be doing something wrong as the only way I can get them there is by copying and pasting. Thank you Alan

All you need to do is import your CDGs with Hoster on your desktop computer, copy the KMA files to the laptop, open Hoster on the laptop and run the MERGE Database. Simple as that. ![]()

merge KMA
Thanks again, this is what I do and it works well. I must haved misread the section in the manual about copying files from one hard drive to another.
Thanks again Alan |
