The .cda estension is what you will see on EVERY CD that is either Audio or Karaoke that you place in a computer. All this does is gives the computer a way to see the Table of Contents. Think of the .cda files, at 1kb, as a Shortcut on your desktop, to a deeper location, where the audio/karaoke is located in the disc.
Now as to your problem, these may just be disks that Hoster does not recognize, for some reason. Alot of these companies that do custom discs, always add security to the disk that is custom made. Also, have you made sure you have the drive set correctly under Hoster to the one you are putting the disk in? You do this under the Tools Menu\CD/DVD Default drives under Hoster.

Ron,
It is a multi-session disc made on the Pro-Burn system. Use Microstudio to import into BIN or CDG (Just don't do the last track). Then use Hoster to import from hard drive. This is the work-around. Licensing through Pro-Burn (MCPS) requires us to make the cdg that way. Jim |

That can't be the problem as Hoster handles multi-session discs just fine now. That work around was for earlier versions of Hoster and I know Ron is working with the later versions. Ron what kind of drive are you using? There have been a lot of problems with the Plextor drives of late (last 2 versions of Hoster).

OK. I just know I was getting the same problem. My drive is a plextor 12/10/32s. Yes, a very old drive, so maybe that is my problem.

Priddis Speaks
Ron,
It appears that the Disc on Demand system that we use puts some copy protection on the discs that are made. These are CDG files on the disc. I am familiar with MTU's programs, including Hoster, Microstudio, and KHpro. There is a way to get around the copy protection. There is no way for us not to put that protection on the CDG with our system however. To bypass the copy protection - Use MTU's Microstudio program. Import the song from the CD to the hard drive. Import it in BIN or CDG format. Only select the songs you need. Do not select the last track. That is the Easy Karaoke track that is putting the copy protection on the CD. From there you will need to import to Hoster from the hard drive instead of the CD. If you have any question, feel free to ask. Jim So now I have to go get acquanted with Microstudio. Do I have that on my Hoster CD ? Ron |

Ron,
Please edit out the email address and phone number. I don't want to get spammed. Jim |

No Microstudio isn't part of your Hoster CD. You would have to purchase it. The program isn't expensive, but if you can wait a week or so, the upgrade version of Hoster with the fix for the drives will be out and that won't cost you anything.

Yes, I have first hand knowledge of Pro-Burn. I supply them with the music (Priddis tracks).
MCPS is the licensing agency which Pro-Burn uses to get the songs licensed for karaoke on the Pro-Burn system. Pro-Burn is the system that is used to create the custom CDGs. Jim Priddis Music |

How to Edit
Jimbo,
I appreciate your response and had no idea that posting the entire message with your email addresses would be an issue. I must be really stupid I just spent an hour trying to figure out how to edit that post. I guess it's academic at this point as ddouglas has quoted me and now his post has the same information on it. and back to the ranch, now I have to buy Microstudio to use your CD's which seems kind of odd since I thought I was purchasing CD's with CDG files on them I could use. Drives, I do have about a year old USB Plextor CD/DVD/ DVD burner drive, it's downstairs and I don't have the model number, but I also have the drive in my HP Laptop. I have imported files with each of them without any problem as far as I know. Now, under Hoster my computer just cant see the Priddis CD in the drive. I don't know if this will improve with Microstudio or not...I hope so. Is there no way that you can just send me CD+G files like I thought I was purchasing? Editing Revisited - Now I see that I can edit a current post but not after someone replies to it. Well Crap! Ron Ron - Hoster Ver 3.1.?? ![]() Just wanted to report that the work around of importing all the tracks off the Priddis CD except the last track with Microstudio as CDG files worked just fine. Once I got the hang of naming the tracks with markers so the import utility could read them "Go Baby Go#The Go Babies.cdg" then everything worked fine.
Also would like to thank Priddis for the dynamite sound and professional level recordings that these tracks provide. I had been more or less just goofing around learning how to do all this with some cheapo CDG's and the Priddis tracks are remarkably better quality. It sounds like the neighborhood buddies went home and a Nashville studio band stepped in when you go from one of my old tracks to one of these Priddis Pro Sound tracks. I'm still not wild about the idea that you have to run a utility to get the tracks out from under the protection scheme and get them into Hoster - perhaps that can be built into the newer Hoster programs in time, but I appreciate the information on how to do it, and want to say that it works really slick. Back to woodsheading..... Ron Last edited by Ron Vermillion; October 13th, 2006 at 09:54 AM. |

Dear Admin
Thanks for the tip. Just a stupid move on my account. Note that you took the information out of my Post Number 17 but you left it in the quote of my post on Post Number 19. When you get a chance would you also clean that mess I caused up as well.
So I guess that after 30 minutes what you said is sorta like being under oath with a court reporter. It a permanent record. I copied a very usefull email into my message, but didn't have enough smarts to leave out his email address - my fault entirely. I didn't even try to edit it out until the next day when I was asked to. The 30 minute rule got me, but it would have got me anyway. Thanks again. Ron |
