gduns,

Guess what my problem was!!

OK, my old cards primary out was vga out, and secondary was dvi or s-vid.
My new cards primary out is dvi and secondary is vga or s-vid.
All I really had to do was switch my cables on the back of my computer.

That is probably something I can change internally in the computer but I guess that as dvi enabled monitors are increasing the card mfr's are making dvi the primary monitor.

Thanks for your help and just wanted to bring you an update so if this happens to anyone else you'll have a heads up.

Wally

Really It is simpler than that. Your video card senses what is attached. turn off computer, and unplug all monitors. plug in only the monitor you want for the primary monitor, and boot up. it will only enable just that monitor. after it is up and running, then puug in the second monitor and boot up. it will then make it the secondary monitor.

I forgot, but I have had to do this.

Yeah, my problem from the beginning may have been that I had both monitors plugged in and on, everytime I booted. Now that I think about it when I did an identify monitors my computer monitor was #1 so that couldn't have been the entire problem.

I took it down to Best Buy and they did some clicking around in the cards properties window but I didn't see them change anything that I didn't try so bottom line was when they switched the dvi to be the primary monitor things started working. Maybe I'll never really know what happened exactly but it's working now and I'm happy.

Thanks again,
Wally
