Check with HP for info. You need a line out or headphones out for the audio. The NVIDIA GeForce usually has extended screen capability, but some manufacturers use a slimmed down version which may not have it. Best way to find out is check with HP. If their spec sheet doesn't tell you then email their tech support to ask.

Thanks for the input. I'll contact HP about the video out and the audio (headphones) out. I always thought the headphones out was different than an audio line out in terms of impedance and signal voltage level out. I quess I'm wrong about this technical point.
Maybe I need to switch my thinking and look at the "cheaper" laptop offered my MTU. At least I know it'll work with Hoster. I started looking at the HP because of the "limited" features of the MTU model. By "limited" I mean the 80 GB hard drive and the processor. While I know the graphics card will give a video dual out, I'm not sure if it's suitable for video editing, if I chose to use my laptop for that function. I know the HP will work for video editing. Does anyone know what type of audio and graphics card the MTU laptop uses? Thanks again for the input, Wes |

Headphones out and line out are not usually the exact same impedence but both are low impedence which is suitable for input to an audio amp.
For the video "dual out" doesn't always mean that it is capable of extended desktop. It could be duplicate out meaning what is on one screen will be on the other and that isn't what you need. That is why I said check with HP on that spec. Most of the KJs who use a laptop have an external HDD to store there song files on because it makes it easier to go to a backup machine in case of trouble. It also keeps the internal drive clean and functioning at peak efficiency.

Thanks for the input. I have an MP3 CD Player, and when I incorrectly connect the phone output to my mix/amp input it's not nearly as good a sound as when I use the line outputs. I read your "Ten Commandments" and thought they were great. Wes |
