Help using the define field order

I am trying out Hoster to determine if this is the software I want to use for doing Karaoke in my local clubs.
I have a lot of mp3+g songs on my computer already (I was using VDJ). I do not seem to understand how the define field order works.
I have tried all the options in the drop down menus but no such luck. I really do not want to copy all of my disks again that is just not going to happen.
Here is an example:Beatles,_The_-_Oh_Darling_-_SC2069-03.mp3
Can someone help?

Very Simple

For a file named:
Beatles,_The_-_Oh_Darling_-_SC2069-03.mp3

you will choose this field Order exactly:

Artist _-_ Title _-_ DiscID .

spelled out: (each Color Represents a Field)
ArtistunderscoreDASHunderscoreTitleundersocreDASHunderscoreDiscIDperiod

If the underscoreDASHunderscore is not in the DROP DOWN Boxes as a pre-programmed choice, enter it MANUALLY.

Once the Track is added to the "Track List Window," you will probably have to select the correct BRAND, which would be Sound Choice Spotlight.

If this helps, I would appreciate you Posting indicating whose POSTS helped and whose didn't.

Good Luck.

I was trying to put ALL of the dots and dashes in the fields. One thing should your string always end with a dot?

Field 1 selection: Artist (will identify "Beatles,_The")

Following delimitor field: _-_

Field 2 selection: Title (will identify "Oh_Darling")

Following delimitor field: _-_

Field 3 selection: DiscID (will identify "SC2069-03")

Following delimitor field: . (period to end the field string)

NOTE 1: "_" before "The" will end up in the final Artist name. It may be easier to import this way, then use the Tools menu Edit Songs command to find all songs still containing "_" and remove them IF desired. If not, they will appear in the Artist name.

NOTE 2: The last delimitor being set to "." could be replaced with "-", followed by Field 4 selection of "Track" to identify the Track# independently if desired. In this latter case, the very last delimitor field still must be a ".". Example:

Field 3 selection: DiscID (will identify "SC2069")

Following delimitor field: -

Field 4 selection: Track (will identify "03")

Following delimitor field: . (period to end the field string)

NOTE 3: This convention will locate ALL "Beatles,_The" and add them under one (or more) "Root BookID" number(s), with up to 99 "tracks" for each auto-incremented "Root BookID".

Due to the extreme flexibility we have built into the Import Hard Drive Files screen, you will probably need to read the Manual ( ) on the Define Field Order topic. There are many examples to help you visualize how it works with various field arrangements.

The fact that there are "_" instead of spaces in your "fields", means the "_" characters will end up in your final fields contents. Since you have used that naming convention, I can only assume you want these to be present. Note #1 addresses how to replace the "_" characters with "spaces" after importing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks ALL!!!

One last question can the screen resolution be changed for the second display?
I use a 1280X1024 LCD for the singers and droping down to 640x480 or 800x600 looks pretty washed out. if not maybe it could be a new feature?
Thanks again.

yes it can, right click anywhere on the desktop and select properties, then go to settings, then highlight the second monitor and change the resolution.

Beav,

What resolutions on both computer monitor and second display seem to work best for you? Curious here?

If you are using LCD's they really only work in one resolution. you can use a different one but it will not be as clear as if you were to use its default resolution.
