Do you get any error messages? What version of Windows are you running? Have you updated your ASPI drivers from: http://www.mtu.com/vbulletin/showthr...p?threadid=493 ? Please let me know.

I'm using windows 98
aspi drivers set to use default driver no adaptec direct cd installed directx 8 or better installed cdrw autoinsert off cd rom autoinsert off cdrw set to udma cd rom set to udma trying to import tracks or duplicate disks I get the starting audio extraction message, the drive reading light comes on for a while then it stops. After a while I got error "this program has performed am illegal operation & will be shut down Can't reopen anything without a hard reboot I updated aspi drivers to 4.6 and I have the same problem except now I get "error unable to read audio sectors 0 to 25 on device 1:0:0 aspi timed out using 2 different chartbuster brand cd+g discs |

TECH SUPPORT FROM PLEXTOR SAID I NEED A PLEXTOR CDROM DRIVE TO READ CD+G FILES AND ANOTHER CDRW DRIVE TO WRITE THEM. THEY SUGESTED GOLDENHAWK SOFTWARE TO DO CD+G FILES. GOLDENHAWK SAYS I ONLY NEED 1 DRIVE AND CAN USE IT TO READ AND WRITE WITH. WHO IS RIGHT??
AND WHY AM I GETTING A READ ERROR?I got an error "unable to read audio sectors 0 to 25 on > > > > device 1:0:0 > > > > > aspi timed out > > > when I try to import (read a karaoke file and copy it to the hard drive) DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A BAD DRIVE OR A SOFTWARE PROBLEM |

You told cronicpain (in another thread) that he should be able to read a CD+G disk in about 8 min. with a Plextor 24/10/40 drive. I've been trying to read 1 since 18 Apr.
Still trying to figure out if my drive is bad or what ?????? |

Please go and update your ASPI drivers and you should have no problems. You can update these from: http://www.mtu.com/vbulletin/showthr...p?threadid=493
Also, by the way the Plextor Techs are only reffering to their software.

Copying w/Plextor
You are not, by chance trying to copy one of the infamous mediaclog discs from sound choice are you? The error messages you say you are getting are similar to what I get using my Plex with a mclog disc

Which Plextor drive are you using as your CD-RW? It seems as the drive is having a problem reading these discs that you are putting in them for some reason. There is a list of drives located at: http://www.mtu.com/vbulletin/showthr...?threadid=1106
These drives show the same erorr but without the ASPI Timed out. I have not run into this erorr before. I would recommend you running the ASPICHK.exe program again. Search your computer for each of the 4 files and delete each one. Reboot the computer. Then reinstall all of the ASPI drivers, and see if that makes a difference.

I copied my hard drive to another hard drive. Then I reformatted my hard drive to erase everything. Then I re-installed windows ant tried the cdrw and it would read CD+G files . I started installing the drivers for the motherboard one at a time and when the cdrw drive stopped being able to read CD+G file I uninstalled that driver. Then I copied everything back from the other hard drive to mine and it seems to be working OK now without that 1 drver installed.
The only problem I have now is sometimes my Karaoke player has problems finding the files. Is this caused by bad media (blank cdr's or the wrong write speed. My Karaoke player is having problems finding plain audio (music ) files that I have copied too. |
