I believe it's the other way around. You have to select the video card you want as the default audio player.

See if this will work:

CONTROL PANEL

SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES

AUDIO

SOUND PLAYBACK...click the arrow to open the drop down menu, and select your sound card.

While you're in there, make sure the volume level is on full open.

In the same SOUND PLAYBACK box, there's a VOLUME tab. Click on it and make sure all the volume sliders are all the way to the top, especially the .WAV one
