Can't reinstall Hoster Again

Hi Moderator, I just uninstalled Hoster from my Hoster Laptop and now I can't reinstall. I had this problem numerous times now and recently it was reset, now i just uninstalled and can't install again with the same problem, I have already installed on two computers. This is getting very annoying now since it has happened on various occasions. Everytime I have to come on the forum and give the same problem. Could you please fix this quick please, I have a gig tonight and really need to install again. Very displeased.

Okay Now

Mine is now fixed and Hoster installed perfectly. I just hope this doesn't happen again, but something tells me it will. I have had this problem so many times now. I'm afraid to uninstall before a gig. Must admit the response was quick though.

It is much safer if you don't do it right before you have a show, but as long as you post here, it will be fixed the fastest.

Aarrgee... what version of Hoster are you installing? Our latest is 3.120 and it has the security signifantly loosened up.

Our security has always allowed installing on the same computer IF... you don't make any significant upgrades. If you upgrade Windows 2000 up to XP and replace your hard drive at the same time, that's coming close to being a new computer. Re-installing or upgrading Windows ONLY will ALLOW reinstalling Hoster.

MTU security will allow incrementally upgrading your computer and installing Hoster. It is only when you change LOTS of things in the computer at the same time... software and hardware... that our security will trigger and require our intervention.

Again, Hoster 3.120 security has relaxed requirements. If you don't have it, get it. If you have Hoster 3.0xx, it is a free upgrade by clicking your download link. If you have Hoster 2.219 or prior, you need to buy the upgrade.

Hoster 3.12

It's Hoster 3.12 the latest version. I have uninstalled twice and had this problem, and numerous times with previous versions.

admin,

im surprised that theres not a way to hone in on the CPU for the security. this way you would have to change the chip to not be able to re-install MTU software.

this is your department, what are your thoughts ???

When MTU was shipping our MTU-130 to MTU-240 microcomputers from 1981-1986, every system had a unique CPUID number. It was THE perfect way to protect software and allow users to make backup copies of their optional purchased software. We NEVER EVEN ONCE had a customer with a "security" problem. Today, there is no such mechanism we can securely lock our software to, and allow honest customers to enjoy the freedom they deserve. No security standards exist to protect software... NOTHING!

Beavis... you must have forgot how Intel was burned to a crisp by the socialistic, liberal USA media SCREAMING... "Big Brother has arrived"... when they "discovered" Intel added a CPUID in every Processor. The media blitz was so bad that AMD abandoned adding a CPUID number. Thus, the CPUID never became a viable security means for developers. If there had been ANY attempt at all to protect software developers, everyone would now be using far superior software! Too bad the socialistic, liberal USA media destroyed the only attempt ever made to do it right......

Microsoft's latest Windows 2000 and XP products even change the Serial Number every time you reinstall them! Can you now understand why we have difficulties with security? However, in spite of this, MTU secures our software, and our customers can install our products with very few problems.

In Hoster 3.120, we significantly "loosened up" our security so it won't bark at our honest users as often. It's security code and our web site scripts and database tables allow upgrading your computer a bit at a time and Hoster will continue to run. However, when major hardware+software upgrades are done together, re-registeration is required, and our intervention on rare ocassions. I think you will agree that's not a bad tradeoff.

Software security is a tight-rope act today. Companies who ignore it die quickly from NEAR-INSTANT worldwide piracy of their products! On the other hand, if security is too tight for their products, they die slowly at the hands of disgruntled users who post disparaging remarks in public Internet Forums.

Unlike other protection schemes, MTU's proprietary security means Allows manual intervention when needed to solve any problems that occur. We CARE about our users! We constantly upgrade our security with the changing computer environment, protect our intellectual rights (and keep us alive!), and remain balanced for our customers.

Companies who fail to secure their software will soon be out of business, leaving their customers with no support or upgrades. MTU has a well balanced business approach that still works after 35 years... and incredible technological changes. We continuously upgrade existing products, are developing new ones, and... daily support our honest customers... all because we secure our products.

So Beavis... there are my thoughts to your question.

great answer !

i hate to say it but the usb etherent dongle was the best thing. this way you could put hoster on many computers but you needed the ethernet to open the software.

it was a great idea.
