Attn: Dave HOSTER 3.109 BETA FEEDBACK
Dave,
I have fiddled with this thing for a couple of days and it will not let me do a complete batch import of my 2000 plus files. It does the first 4-5 and then says that "Hoster has performed an illegal operation and must shut down". I would do one at a time, but that could get very time consuming. I love the new feel of the import screen. I just hope the batch import can be resolved. I am using the following format for import: Artist - Title . Extension It imports the first couple just fine. And they pull up in Hoster as well. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but that's all I got. I'm really not sure if this fixed my problem yet because I can't import all of my songs without taking 2-3 weeks working on it. LOL ![]() Thanks!!! Hope this helps. |

Turns out that in 3.109 Beta 3 if an error occurs while importing in Batch mode, the import operation terminates.
This has been fixed, but other problems surfaced that prevented releasing 3.109. We're working on 3.110 now. ![]() |

When you say that it does 4-5, does this mean CD's or Songs?

4-5 songs. Then it would give the error.

I will be testing this Heavily next week, once the engineer gets back and gets me another beta. I could get through about 7 discs, 15 songs per disc, in the .cdg format, before I made it crash. We will get this working correctly.

It happened to me when I was importing from .ZIP files. All of my mp3 & cdg files are zipped so that is all i was able to test.
Thanks! |

We have 8 error checks already on ZIP files as we knew this format would create problems. The only thing we are now aware of is some ZIP programs allow zipping with a "Max Compression" that our unzipper code won't handle. If you care to email "support at mtu.com" one of your bad ZIP files, we can insure we have an "error check" for what is wrong.
When we release Hoster 3.110, when a bad file is found, its path\filename will be written into a log file during BATCH mode, but it will continue importing past the bad file. You can then go back and try to fix the bad file for reimporting. |

I don't think i have a bad zip file. All were zipped the same way with the same compression. It only crashes when i do a batch import of all 2000+ files. It'll do about 5 then shut down. Do you want me to send the 4th or 5th file to see if it is bad?

No, MTUSUPPORT was able to repeatably create the problem. We are working on a fix this week, along with a major overhaul of the entire code. It will be in 3.110 Beta 3 when it is ready for testing. We'll get you a copy to test your specific problem and see if it is still present or gone.

I am unable with Hoster 3110 Beta 3 to make this happen. I have just imported about 10 Full CD's in the .zip format and it worked flawless. The above problem was fixed when importing the .cdg files, which may have also fixed this issue.

Any chance that I will get the new beta copy so that i can test and see if my issue was resolved? Thanks!

We are still working on getting this finished. It is taking longer than expected to redo the Import Screen. Once this is all finished, then yes I will get you a copy again to test.

Bad Zip Files Max Compression
I Was Having The Same Problems When Importing 1000+ Zip Files. Hoster Would Stop Working. It Seems To Me That This Only Happens When The Zip File Is Not Made Correctly Or When It Was Made With Max Compression. I Don't Thing The Number Of Files Being Imported Has Anything To Do With It.
I Am Able To Re-zip The Files Buy Unzipping Using Winzip Then Archiving Them Using Winrar. You Can Then Re-import The Songs. I Have Not Been Able To Do More Than One At A Time Though So It Is Very Time Consuming And I Don't Know Any Othet Way To Do It. Is There A Progam Out There That Will Do This Easier Or At Least Can Scan Your Folders And Tell You If A File Was Done At Max Compression Or Is A Bad Zip File? Admin-also As Far As The Log File Being Generated, Where Is It Located At. After Inporting Batch Files, I Find A Text File Inside The Folder I Was Using And I Assumed That Those Were The Songs That Were Imported As It Says At The Top Of The Test File. Having A Log Of The Songs That Did Not Import Correctly Would Be Great. Hoster Still Rules!!! |

i think the log file is in the folder where the zip files are. its in a notepad.

Lof File Question
I still am not clear on the log file. After doing a batch file if there is a log file inside the folder where the songs were imported from, these are songs that WERE NOT imported correctely? Since the log file read "Imported Songs" in the header, I assumed these were the songs that were correctly imported not the other way around. I am confused. I have a lot of songs that did not import correctly and may have to start from scratch

zip fix
here is an idea that may solve the zip delemma i have all my files catagorized my manufacturer. In those folders are the discs in subfolders, before i did my importing i went and highlighted all the files in there then extracted them to the same folder they reside in. deleted the old zips then did a batch zip with a program called mp3+gtoolz version 2.9 then imported the zips into kma format. have not had a problem with crashing and they play just fine. time consuming yes but so is a file that will not play at a show.

zip fix
Studio pro can you help me out with step by step instructions? I am not to familiar with zipping and unziping files. I put my files in one folder as you suggested, I highlighted all the files and right clicked and using winRAR selected extract to here, all the old files were removed and I am left with all my files opened and showing a mp3 file and a cdg file for each song such as:
Cb30002-01 - Destiny's Child - Say My Name Listed as a (mp3 file) Cb30002-01 - Destiny's Child - Say My Name.cdg This is where I get stuck if I am even doing this right. |
