Importing Chartbuster Zip Files

ADMIN: First, it is "&This", not "This". Please read the manual. The "&This" selection is appended to the prior field selection. Thus, for CB5018-30-02, you would enter "DiscID-&This-Track#" followed by whatever Title and Artist settings are present.

I have read the manual and using the exact example in the manual they still will not import. This is the example given

DiscID-&This-Track - Title - Brand (last box is grayed out)

Using this format you get the message that the seperator ending field 5 is missing. I tried putting . in the last box. You then get the message that the seperator for field 4 is wrong.
I am using discid, dash, &This, dash, track, space dash space, title

I really do not want to rename all my files unless I have to.

Thanks for pointing out we had a "typo" in the screen text. We have changed "This to "&This" to correct this.

You wrote: "I am using discid, dash, &This, dash, track, space dash space, title"

There should be a "." in the separator field following the Title field. The validation checking we do is quite extensive. If your selected filename does not exactly match the "Define Field Order" settings you will see an error message for the exact field that does not match your SELECTED filename contents.

I don't know what else I can say.... but I hope you are now running.

Importing Chartbuster Zip Files

Using the "." in the last seperator field did not work.

here is one of the songs I was importing:
Cbe19-01 - Presley, Elvis - Jailhouse Rock

For this song I used:
discid, dash, &this, dash, track, space dash space, artist, space dash space, title, "."

Using this format results in the message that the seperator in field 4 is wrong which is space dash space and should be correct.

If I try using the predefined field order (the second one listed on the top left of the import screen of discid-track - artist - title and fill in the Brand myself, they will import and come up as Chartbuster Essential 450, DiscId CBE19. Can I just stick with this or am I going to have problems when I get into the other Chartbuster Essential 450 sets volume's 2 thru 4?

For the ABOVE, you should be using:

DiscID, DASH (single, no spaces), TrackNo, SPACEdashSPACE, Artist, Title, PERIOD

It reads right across the line, left to right.

Why would you use &This after DiscID? Using &This after the DiscID would mean to ADD the -01, which is YOUR TRACK NUMBER, to Cbe19 resulting in a DiscID of Cbe1901. If you did this, you would be left without a TRACK NUMBER!

Let me get this straight. You wrote:
Field 1 = discid
Field 2 = dash
Field 3 = &this
Field 4 = dash <---matches what you wrote above, in BOLD/RED

Then you wrote that Hoster is pointing out that FIELD 4 is wrong and YOU state: "which is space dash space and should be correct."

I don't understand this. You wrote, in the 2nd Quote, that you are using a DASH.

Then, in Quote 3, you state that you are using Space Dash Space.

Well, which is it? SPACE or SPACE DASH SPACE?

You can use:
discid, dash, &this, dash, track, space dash space, artist, space dash space, title, "."

on

Cbe19-01 - Presley, Elvis - Jailhouse Rock

by changing what Hoster told you to Fix, which is Field 4, resulting in:

discid, dash, &this, space dash space, track, space dash space, artist, space dash space, title, "."

resulting in Hoster interpreting your Song Description as:

Cbe1901 - Presley, Elvis - Jailhouse Rock

But, without a Track Number, Hoster will only Import ONE Track because Hoster will assign Track Number ONE to each Track, and, of course, you can only have one "Track ONE" per BookID.

You could BATCH Import and Hoster will assign its own Track Numbers.

I renamed my Cbe-19 to your naming scheme of Cbe19 and what I Posted, at the beginning of this POST, of:
DiscID, DASH (single, no spaces), TrackNo, SPACEdashSPACE, Artist, Title, PERIOD
will work fine.

You may need to MANUALLY Select the BRAND as Hoster is having a slight problem with filling in the BRAND automatically. But, in SINGLE MODE Importing, you are there observing what is happening anyway and it only takes a second to manually Select the Brand.

Hope this puts this to rest,
Norm

Norm,

Thanks for the reply. I was using the &This because that is what admin told me to use and also it is in the manual that way.

I am now doing it the way you suggest and it is working. Maybe the way MTU wants you to do it still needs to be worked on.

Norm I did not rename the files as you suggested but they did import correctly. Also as far as all the space dash space question, we are not looking at them the same way and that is where the confusion came in. It was actually field 8 that I was looking at if you are counting all the fields from left to right however hoster was highlighting this field and calling it field 4. Anyway it is all very confusing sounding but at least I am getting them imported now and without renaming them.
