Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

This might be your problem and it might not be

if your sound card is USB and for what every reason your USB times out
say for lack of resource's then hoster will crash because it does not see the sound card if I were you.
I would try a PCMCIA card or a card that works of the com port
and if you have a desk top go with a pci card

This will at least tell you if it was the USB and if it was the USB
try a different set of drivers for the USB support
in most case's there are at least two sets of drivers for
every thing on your computer

now i and going on the fact that you have a usb sound card.
hope this helps

hi there, i have two laptops and one home machine all using hoster. my first laptop has been freezing for about 6 months, you never know where or when in the show but ouch !. the other 2 are fine, i have used hoster for 2 years for 3 to 4 shows a week. Recently to remove the problem i paid to have the coputer reformated and a new version of windows xp pro installed. Last night fri i downloaded and installed the latest version of hoster and copied my songs 4500 from my backup hard drive (which i use to reload all machines) , and hey presto it kept freezing in the show where my mate was working for me, so i don't think its windows, hoster or drives as i do not tell people that i can load their discs,
We are as we speak adding windows 2000 installed with option as to which system to run on and going to try that out to see if the laptop will work better with that, failing that i am going to purchase a cool mat which the laptop sits on and contains 3or4 cooling fans to see if heat is an issue,
will keep you posted.

Does your event viewer log anything at the freezing point?

Have you tried uninstalling SPYBOT and testing for crashes?

My pc guru told me a year or so ago to stay away from SPYBOT as it caused problems on some systems, so I stayed away from it and am using the MS Anti Spyware.

Dunno, just heresay, but from a source that has done a good job for me.

George

I had a similar problem with one of my systems last week. I opened up my pc formatted a different one and things seemed to be fine. Then my first show with it, I was transfering and rebuilding my itunes database while hoster was running and the system froze. So I rebooted and started playing hoster again and didn't have any problem. So I decided to start importing my itunes database and it froze again. So I rebooted one more time and started the show and just forgot about the itunes and It hasn't froze again. I rebuilt the itunes later and havn't had a problem since. I don't know if these have anything to do with what your going through but who knows they might be related.

well last night contained 3 crashes and i have the report saved in my documents and i have read it , i think its written in chinese or some other latin ,
however i think i may have found the fix, i was in a panic when i finally got the ok to download the software, ( i had as instructed when the software on the site said "this programme is already installed on 2 computers) and sent an email to support@mtu.com , on tuesday of last week and thursday , i telephoned the office and got a recorded messagea and then was invited to leave a message, finally got the all clear friday about 6.00 oclock show starting at 8.00 downloaded the software, installed it , then started copying the songs some 4500 of them, as you can appreciate a bit of sweat formed on the brow, only today on the case again noticed that the play was set to auto not man, the machine had crashed already this afternoon and i changed the setting, two hours later manually starting each song seems to be working no freeze no crash, working tonight wish me luck, (only one job on so i'm taking both machines)
