Hoster crashing at the CD import screen

I hoped that the new update would remedy this problem, but to my dismay it has not. I have updated the motherboard chipset drivers and recieved the upgrade from shuttle and I still have the problem. I do not believe it is CD burner related. Let me desribe in greater detail what happens. When I hit the drop down box to select the disc brand the hourglass comes up and I am unable to use hoster nor am i able to close and restart hoster without rebooting the computer. I can however open another session of hoster. Trying to end this dead session from progman is unsuccessfull also. Please anyone helpppp!
