Re: When will Hoster 3.1 release?

I think posting a release date for an upgrade and then missing it just causes more hassle than it's worth. Next upgrade guys. Say nothing, just post it when it's done.

Talking Re: When will Hoster 3.1 release?

You have to remember, a release date, is always tenative. I depends on a lot of factors. A lot of testing, and reprogramming goes into any complex software, and I'm sure you have read of all the improvements on the news section, that is going into the new version.

Being Professional Kj's I'm Sure you would rather have a program that runs without errors......... rather than a half baked concoction that doesnt work properly. I am waiting as patiently as you, and know the outcome will be a world class program.......

Re: When will Hoster 3.1 release?

I think you are missing the point of my message. What I am saying to MTU is:

"In order to avoid dozens of questions about release dates, do not post the release until it is D-O-N-E" I mean, what's the point? Of course it's nice to see what is being considered for future releases. That is whay they have a wish list area. To me, it's like saying to someone "I'll meet you at 7:30" then not turning up until 9:30 because you decided the shoes you had on did not feel right. It's bad manners. As professional DJ's if we made promises even half baked ones to our customers......

I totally agree, do not put the product out before it's ready, no one wants that. But don't say it will be out by X when it won't. And the 15th April is not the first date posted for the release of this update remember.

You are mistaken. We DO NOT say when "it will be out".

Our News page clearly states WISH? for our current best estimate.

Software development companies preannounce their products. It is a way of life. It lets users know "We have heard you". Look at Microsoft.......

I'm surprised you'd compare software PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT to a SERVICE such as DJ/KJ. If you look at our sales side, which is a "service" function, we deliver when we say.

Consider this example... If you were to dream up a totally new way to provide music to users in a group environment, and you said you could have it all worked out and duplicatable within 2 months, then someone says to you "Will you be able to handle this, and what about that"... you can accomodate or ignore them... now or later. Of course, if you don't enjoy product development with all its stresses and unknowns, then you would never entertain MODIFYING your dream, and eventually someone else would improve on your idea and... you're out of business if you were selling your idea.

When we "open the code" to create a new release, we CAN add some "this and that" features. If you have followed us very long, you know we are EXTREMELY responsive to our users. Some things take longer than others and sometimes you are well into it before you know which it will be.

In the case of Hoster 3.10x, our talented and capable Beta Testers kept drilling us to change a MAJOR function that was already coded and working. They wanted us to dream up a new way to make it easier to use. I kept saying... NO... No... no... finally YES. That cost us another 2 weeks, decided the week before April 15th when we were close to release. The product will now be easier to use as a result.

That's comparing software DEVELOPMENT with DJ Development.

Re: When will Hoster 3.1 release?

I'm on the fence with this one. I get frustrated with the release time also but............ you must understand that we like this product so much that we can't wait to get on hands on the newest car in the lot. It's that I use my hoster everyday for my enjoyment as well. It's great that we like this product sooooo much that we tend to voice are opion. If we didn't care there would be no hoster. So I think that's where the rub is. It's are interest that fuels new upgrade from hoster. Just one party of one Opion.

Re: When will Hoster 3.1 release?

I Think SabreT makes a Valid point. To Me It's Not about comparing software development to DJ-Development.It's about business development.I have followed MTU for a long time.I first purchased a Plextor Drive and Microstudio. Then Purchased Karaoke Suite 4.Then most recently Hoster.
First of all the wish date was not always called the wish date.Obviously a response to the aggrivation arising from products not being released remotely close to when they were scheduled.I have been waiting for over 1 full year for the Duet Function of KHPro. which was foretold back when it was calle dKaraoke Home Producer.
I also think that the link from my Hoster Program to "Check MTU Site" Should not bring me to a page which says that Hoster 3.1 was released on April 15th, when it was not the case.To this Day 2 full weeks later the page still says that it was released on april 15th. In a previos response from the admin. We are looking forward to releasing Hoster 3.1 next week. Well to me just another misleading statement. If you are going to just continue to guesstimate perhaps you should over guesstimate so we don't feel like we are being mis-informed.

Of Course this is just my opinion but don't take it personal.I just feel that if it were not for the fact that your product was so strong, I would have taken my business elsewhere a long long time ago.

If I may add a bit to that, MTU is very unique in that they provide at great expense, an open forum for it's customers to vent their frustrations in such matters.

I hope you guys realize that every minute spent reading and answering these needless questions is a minute spent away from getting the product out to us, and/or providing needed support to other customers.

I take on board what you say. I'll come back in a few months from now to see where we are at.
