Hoster crashing at the CD import screen

I have imported nearly 700 songs. Now I everytime I go to the import screen hoster locks up. I cannot even close Hoster at this point. The only thing I have installed on this machine is hoster. It is a pentium 4 SHuttle XPC with a Plextor compatible drive and I am running P home. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Hoster and deleted the registry keys. I do not know if this is related but this all started after installing my first Sound Choice disk. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

try un-installing then re-installing.

you wont lose your .kma files.

are you using an external drive ?

no it is an internal drive.

Update the Motheboard drivers for the Chipset, from Shuttle. Then see if that helps. You might also try upgrading the firmware for your Plextor drive from: http://www.plextor.com/english/suppo...oads.html#firm

I hoped that the new update would remedy this problem, but to my dismay it has not. I have updated the motherboard chipset drivers and recieved the upgrade from shuttle and I still have the problem. I do not believe it is CD burner related. Let me desribe in greater detail what happens. When I hit the drop down box to select the disc brand the hourglass comes up and I am unable to use hoster nor am i able to close and restart hoster without rebooting the computer. I can however open another session of hoster. Trying to end this dead session from progman is unsuccessfull also. Please anyone helpppp!

Have you tried running all the windows updates?

Yes I have all the latest windows updates.

What happens when you go under Hoster to the Tools Menu\Default DVD/CD Drive. Click the Down arrow beside your Plextor drive, then select it at the very bottom. Then click OK, now close Hoster. Then reopen Hoster and try again.

Other than this, there is something going on with your computer that is causing the problem.

I did what you said with the selection of the Burner drive. Still this lockup happens occasionally. When this does happen a file that is called Bucket is created in my database folder. This is a differen bucket file than my original bucket file upon installation. (A total of 2 bucket files one is 1 mb and the other is much larger.) The description under the smaller of the two files says that it is a microsoft access record locking information. I can delete this file and reinstall hoster and it works fine for a while and then out of no where when I click on the drop down box to select the Brand of CD it locks up again. I do not believe it is related to my CD burner because I have not even selected for the disc to be read. Please help.
