The "flag" could simply be a Boolean(yes/no) field in Hoster's Songs.mdb
The songs themselves could also have this "Yes/No" somewhere in the tag, I wouldn't think it would take very much room in the KMA header

You are correct. I have a few singers that bring the same disks and sing the same songs off those disks week after week after week . So I'll tell them that if they don't want have to drag'em in all the time I can put import them permanantly.I promise them they won't show up in the songbook and nobody else will be singing from them. I just tell them they have to show up at least 15 minutes before show for me to do it.

Permanently importing another's cdg's is illegal. That's why Hoster creates a temporary file which deletes after the track has been played.

Remember, to be legal you must be able to produce the original CDG that you own for everything imported into Hoster, and you can't.

I leave all my disks at home, so if I have to produce one, not having the singers disk on the premises will be the least of my worries.

I don't think the federal marshals would mind escorting a KJ home to see them since they were going to go there anyway to confiscate the equipment if the KJ were running illegal.

After all part of the purpose of a pc based show is to not have to lug the cd's around anyway.

I'm just speculating on that part, and it's purely an opinion, as I don't recall this ever coming up on the forums before, but it would seem as though as long as you do own the discs, you're clear. It's an interesting point, though.

i dont think any marshall is coming to any bar to make anyone produce there cd-g's. i think it would have to go through the courts first. its the courts job to do this.

I believe Admin has said in the forums it is the federal marshals that will show up at the site.

I'd presume they would have obtained a court order to do so, and have a
search warrant in hand.

Depending on their findings charges would be made or not. If their findings indicate wrongdoing then they would confiscate whatever they deemed necessary as evidence in a lawsuit against the offending party. Then it goes through the judicial system.

I think what is being referenced to here is "Listing duplicates", not having them. I also don't like dups in my songbook. but I use access to remove them.

This is a complicated process, but what you do is after you have the songs.mdb in access. (a copy, not the original).

1)highlight the table "songs" right click it, and pick copy.
2)unselect "songs" by clicking away from the selection.
3)right click, and paste. when the popup comes up select structure only, and name the new database unique. hit ok.
4) open the unique database in the design mode, and create a new field. Make it a key field, name it "unid" and use all the properties of text, and 250 characters.
5) save and close
6) open the songs database, and create the same field.
7) create a update query for the "songs" database that will concatenate the "artist" and title field. into the "unid" field.
8) run the query, and it will add data in the field tha wil look strange, but in effect it will be the song and title in a continuous text field.
9) open the "songs" database and select all the data.
10) right click on the selected data and pick paste.
11) open the unique database and paste the data.
12) it will tell you there are errors. Because it will not allow exact duplicates of the unid field. select ok or continue.
13) you will now have eliminted most of the duplicated songs, and the "unique" database will be mostly be duplicate free.
14) close both unique, and songs, and save.
open "unique" and select and delete the "inid" field
15) save and close "unique"
16) right click on "songs" database and delete it.
17) right click the "unique" database and rename it songs.
18) save.
19) if you are using access 2000 use tools, and convert the data base to a '97 access version. you will have to name it songs.mdb
20) go to the database directory of hoster, and rename the songs.mdb to songssafe.mdb.
21)copy the newly created songs.mdb file we have just modified into the directory.
22) open hoster, and print songbook as you normally would.
now for the most part this songbook will be duplicate free.
you may have a little editing to do but what this does is only allow 1 song with the same artist, and title. so if you had say.... crazy by willie, patsy cline and nsync. they will all three be in the list. but for the most part you will not have 15 copies of crazy by patsy cline.

23) when done rename songs.mdb to songsunique.mdb
24) rename songssafe.mdb to songs.mdb
now hoster will still have all your duplicates still in the program to use in the case of a bad track, but the song book you created will not show it.

If you dont not understand these instructions, then don't attempt to do this. you really need basic knowlege of access and the pc to do this. If this makes sense to you then do it, it does work great.

i would say they are not looking for the end user's like mindonstrike. they will be looking for those peeps who are buying those 20,000 song libraries for $1500 or people mass downloading off the internet.
