I have a PIII 800 mhz, 256 mb SDRAM, OS= Windows Me with latest downloaded "Me" patch. CDRW's: Plextor 12/10/32a internal ide, Yahama 8/4/24, internal ide.

I purchased and downloaded Karaoke Home Producer with Microstudio. After running microstudio successfully a few times, it failed to load, displayed the hour glass for 3 seconds then stopped.

Because of the ASPI problem posted on the forum, I removed Plextor's EZ Cd creator (which supplies the ASPI driver), KHP and Microstudio. Reinstalled EZ CD Creator, Direct CD, Microstudio, and KHP. Microstudio loaded instantly until I ran EZ CD Creator, then failed to load again.

I repeated the above sequence, then ran EZ CD creator with microstudio in the background. So far, Microstudio still loads and runs fine.

Since I'm getting tired of reinstalling programs, I have not tried to run EZ CD Creator by itself, yet.

solution to Microstudio problems

I found that Driect CD causes some conflicts...if you can live without it, remove it.

CID_CAT

Thanks for the suggestion, however, I tried to run microstudio without EZCD creator, but without the ASPI driver, microstudio failed to run. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I had the same problem I checked the whole set up and the only thing I found was the auto insert notification button was now checked. I have had no problem running Microstudio and CDRWIN on the same machine.

The program Adaptec Direct CD does seem to cause problems on certain systems. I recommend everyone uninstall this part of the Adaptec software and only use Adaptec Ez CD Creator.

You shouldn't have to run Microstudio in the background while you open Ez CD Creator. Try uninstalling the Direct CD by doing the following:

1) Go to the Start Menu

2) Double Click on Add/Remove Programs

3) Look through the programs and find the one that shows: Adaptec Direct CD

4) Select this file, then click the Add/Remove button to uninstall this program.

NOTE: Make sure you click NO to All when it asks if you want to remove the Shared Files.

Restart the Computer.

It appears EZ CD Creator in the starting post (KaraokeRay) might be grabbing an ASPI resource and not letting it go. Subsequently, MicroStudio is failing at startup.

Microstudio requires the ASPI driver to be present, and recognize IDE drives. Microstudio will not run if this ASPI is missing.

Cool Running Fine Now

Thanks for the help.

You have resolved my problem. I deleted Direct CD at the advice of Cid_cat, after I figured out that he was telling me to just delete Direct Cd and not all the EZCD programs. I have run the program for about 10 sessions now and have not encountered Microstudio failing to load.

Thanks again.
