CDG audio very low on one Karaoke Machine

Was the original wav a STEREO file?

or was it Mono.. it is possible that it was recorded on the cd in mono. He had said it was a pre-release. Often times pre-release aren't mastered very well and thus you end up with a lot of things, or everything panned to the center channel. Which, after running through a vocal reducer (vogone, or others) would leave you with pretty much nothing.

And you need to take into account the background noise in the places you test things too.. it's usually quiter at home listening to a track you just did, versus out at a gig listening to a track.
