lost database
i just backed up my hard drive from main computer to ext drive i keep on hand for my laptop in case main computer would fail during a show. songs are in and playing fine. but when i try to import new disk there is no data in import tracks. brand & disc id# is blank, but book ID # is there and corect. what do i do now. BOB

You MUST have your DATABASE Folder intact on your C: Drive where your HOSTER Folder IS.
As in: C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases In the DATABASE Folder you MUST have these files: Bucket.mdb Songs.mdb Hoster.dat hprint.exe Bucket.ldb If these files are not where they should be, copy them back to where they are supposed to be. If these files are nowhere to be found, you will need to reinstall Hoster. After you make sure of your FOLDER information, REBUILD your database. If you haven't already done so, you MUST Rebuild your DATABASE so that the SONGS.MDB database points to the NEW DESTINATION where your KMA files are now LOCATED, which is your EXTERNAL DRIVE. If completed SKIP the following Steps 1-6. If not, do this: 1. In the BUILD SONGS DATABASE Menu, Delete the SONG SOURCE FOLDER that referenced your SONGS on the C: Drive and "SELECT FOLDER" where your SONGS are now located, which is, now, the EXTERNAL DRIVE. Should say something like: E:\SONGS Where "E" stands for the DRIVE LETTER of your EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE and "SONGS" stands for the FOLDER where your SONGS are located. 2. In the SONGS DATABASE DESTINATION FOLDER Section the Destination should say: C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases\ Assuming you installed Hoster in the DEFAULT FOLDER - Leave this alone 3. Now, click BUILD SONGS DATABASE. 4. When you get the MESSAGE that a BACKUP of the SONGS DATABASE was created successfully, click OK. 5. WAIT for the DATABASE to complete its rebuilding. 6. When DATABASE is done with REBUILDING, click the IMPORT TRACK Tab. If you haven't already done so, and, if you want to keep all your KMA files together, you MUST Redirect newly IMPORTED KMA's to be STORED on the EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE. If completed, SKIP the following steps 1 and 2. If not, do this: 1. Click the IMPORT TRACK Tab 2. In the "SAVE TO:" Box, change the DESTINATION FOLDER to where your SONGS will be STORED. The DESTINATION FOLDER will look something like this: E:\SONGS Where "E" stands for the DRIVE LETTER of your EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE and "SONGS" stands for the FOLDER where your SONGS are located. Now you are DONE and everything should work correctly. |

Thank You, NReel. It worked i now have my database back, it only shows songs that were in hoster database. i had added a lot of disc to main computer that i had to type in man. new disc that are not in hoster database can i copy database only from main computer to laptop so i dont have to find which disc i added and add them again, Thanks Again, Bob
