Angry Help, Help! Demo won't run, drives aren't seen

I'm running windows XP on an HP Pavilion 753n.
2.53 GHZ
512 Meg of memory

When I start the microstudio demo, I get the following errors:
Error Signature
AppName: microstudio demo.exe AppVer: 2.6.0.9 ModName wnaspint.dll
ModVer 1.00.1 Offset 0002faa

I've already tried all 3 solutions for installing compatible ASPI driver, to no avail. However, when I select properties on the microstudio demo icon and set it to microsoft 98 compatible mode, the software starts. When it runs in this mode, it does not see the Plextor PX-712A (usb) drive that I recently installed after purchasing it from your website. It does see my older CD-ROM R, and DVD drives (that are not CDG compatible). Windows Explorer does see the new drive (G, and I'm able to access DVDs and CDs with it.

I'm totally current on all windows updates, and all firmware and microcode updates.

Is there a support number I can call? I've been posting and getting responses from support (every couple days). (It seems after several threads, there is no follow-up) At this rate, it will take me all year to get this problem corrected. I spent a lot of money for this DVD drive, and I'm very interested in the software, but I don't want to buy it until I can get the demo version working and verify that it will work.

This was the Critical answer to your problem. You just forgot to mention it to me. Or you would have had your problem solved before now.

Go to the Start Menu, Search, All Files and Folders. Type in wnaspint.dll. Then search the C:\ drive for it. It should find this file in the C:\Windows\System or System32 directory. When it finds it, delete the File.

Your computer will not work correctly with our ASPI Driver. Also, never run any of our programs in Win 98 compatibility mode under XP.

Once you have done this, Open Microstudio and let me know what happens. It should now work perfect.

I found WNASPINT.DLL in my \windows\System32 folder. Then, I tried removing the wnaspint.dll (actually renamed it to wnaspint.dll.sav2). Then I started the Microstudio demo, clicked on "Detect Drives" and it STILL CAN NOT FIND my DVD writable drive!!! IS THERE A NUMBER WE CAN CALL FOR SUPPORT???

I do all of the support, and am out of the office sick.

Does it show you any drives?

Yes, it shows my DVD read-only drive and my CDRW drive. Only those 2 drives are being detected. It can not detect the DVD write drive.

Re: Help, Help! Demo won't run, drives aren't seen

Does it not show this drive at all or does it state NO for Karaoke on this drive?

If it doesn't show the drive at all then, there is a problem with the computer, not the Microstudio or the ASPI drivers. You may try updating your Motherboard drivers if it is an Internal DVD drive, if it is a USB drive then Update your USB drivers from your motherboard manufacturers website.

Re: Help, Help! Demo won't run, drives aren't seen

It does not display the plextor PX712A (usb) drive at all. It is not listed.

The older CD-RW and DVD drives are displayed as not supporting the Karaoke format. My computer is current. There are no driver updates for the motherboard nor the usb. The new DVD drive works with Roxio apps and Windows Explorer. It runs DVD movies, and copies CD's. Only your demo software appears to have problems.
