Question What Next For KHPro?

Well, we're all happy with the new upgrade and the options we've got to play around with, and I'm wondering what's going to happen next.

I'm sure most people accept and are more than happy to pay for future upgrades, so this means that MTU can generate themselves revenue by making upgrade which suit the software users such as myself.

We also know that KHPro isn't intended as a tool for producing commercial CD+G tracks, so we can't be unreasonable with our requests for new features - however, because we are asked to pay for the upgrades it gives us users a bit more leeway.

So I am suggesting a list of possible new features for the next upgrade - nothing too extravagant, and I'd like other KHPro users who are willing to pay for the upgrades, to select the
SINGLE new features they would most like, sort of like a vote. Then maybe MTU will get to work on it and generate itself some more cash.

A) Ability to produce duets by having two different colours of font allowed within a sing song.
B) Separate start and end screens. The main control panel of KHPro could have two extra buttons, 'Start Screen' and 'End Screen', we could then be able to have different coloured start and end screens, making it obvious to the singer when the singing portion of the song begins and ends.
C) Ability to save 'projects'. This would mean that you could create a song and time it perfectly, then open it up at a later date and change the colours etc.
D) Ability to correct timing errors. (Admin's face may be starting to frown here). It would be nice if we could re-sweep screens which we felt we wrong without having to do the whole song again.

I've run out of possible features, without going into bitmaps etc.

I know one of MTU's main concerns is that the more features the software has, the harder it is to use. Well I'd be happy for MTU to charge for support, as I'm sure are other people who have no problems using the software. After all, when you buy a car, you don't expect the garage to teach you how to drive it!

Just fancied a ramble...

all i wanna see are these two features:
ability to do duets: use one color for singer 1, a second color for singer 2 and a third color for when they sing together.
heck just use the code that is part of KPro for the duets- certaintainly they can isolate that code without giving us too much of Kpro so this product won't reach pro level (too late it already has!!)

the ability to highlight text and custom font on the run.

I only really want this feature for the title screen
although this might even suffice for simple duets
by using a different font for each singer.
nevr thought one idea might kill 2 birds in one stone.
I don't think these things are too much to ask.

by the way The program as it is only needs the duet feature to make complete pro quality for what i want.
But I am not using this for commercial needs but duets would be a nice addition
this is an example of how i would change the fonts on the fly:

the duet if done in the present format would show the lyrics
in the same font for all the follow lines.
To be able to change the font on the run would produce the following result after i highlighted the text I wanted to change the font of: then I'd go into the change settings screen and change the font. or start in the settings screen with a tiny word processing screen so I can make the changes to the text and only the text i chose to change.

singer 1
summer loving had me a blast

singer 2:

summer lovin happened so fast

both:

summer days blow me away but oh those summer nights

does this give a better idea of what I am referring to?
as it is now you're stuck the who song thorugh with
the lyrics are typed out in the same font.
by being able to highlight the words you want to change it's font while in the program rather than just set one font and leave it at that. make it so you can change the settings on anything you highlight. you can do it in a word processor but when it comes into KHP 2 you are stuck with the whole file and nothing but the whole file when it comes to any of the change capabilities you added into KHP 2. I don't expect you to go out over night and make a KHP 3 but these are my suggestions for when you do attempt it.

Talking Dreaming again?

OK, I hear you. It won't be overnight, but we do have some things in the works.

danny_g, it sounds like you are onto something, but truthfully, I don't have a clue what it is. If you would click the edit button for your post, go back into it and rethink what you said, then type it in a clearer way, we'd all be greatful.

For example, "The ability to highlight text and custom font on the run." What does this mean? I belive you know, but your words hide the meaning for me.

Have another go at it please?

Danny,
I am not sure what response Admin will have to your post, but I will give you some information on the "Font changing on the Fly" as you called it.

This has been a feature that had been asked for in KPRO, that has not been implemented yet. This is extremely hard to do, because this means that you have to change the color palletes on every line of text. Right now in Karaoke Home Producer there is only 1 color pallete change in the the entire song. In Karaoke Pro, you can have a total of 3 color pallete changes. The title page, the Lyrics, and the Credits page all have one pallette change. From what I know this is all that any of the Karaoke mastering programs are able to do.

This is something I will let Admin add to, but this is just to give you an idea. I am sure that he will have more information to add to this for you.

Hi,

I think KHP is great, but will cast my vote for three sweep colors for use in duets. One for singer A, one for singer B and a third for both.

Incidentally, for some reason I find using the EM-Space rather confusing and time consuming at the input for indicating long Introductions, Instrumental breaks, etc. Much simpler to use something like these:

(INTRODUCTION) (INSTRUMENTAL) (PAUSE)

The software will automaticaly sweep sloooowly on those words until you tap the spacebar for the next word to start singing. Mush easier on the input end, and gives the singer clues as he/she goes along.

Thanks,

George

I use a line of dashes ( - ) to count in to a songs and also to highlight instrumentals regardless of lenght.

I will use a line of arbout 15 dashes for longer breaks and about 5 for shorter breaks. Works really well for me anyway.

So my start screen looks like the following using four lines and centered lyrics.

..RADIOHEAD..
.Karma.Police.

---------------

The reason for the two full stops ( .. ) at the start is because I sometimes find incomplete fonts at the start of my cdg. This eliminates this

Yeah, Brian...looks like we're both on the same wavelength, just using words or dashes. If you'd prefer not to have stops on your lead in and overcome the text problem on the title, you can also make the first line a blank line. Works the same as having the two blank lines at the end of the song.

Take care,

George

I always use 6 lines per page as it seems to be the most effective for doing fast songs. The most common font I use is Swiss Black Condensed, size 24.

You can put the copyright logo in my pressing Alt 0169.
