khpro has caused an error in khpro.exe-RESOLVED as bad .wav file

I am a new user and am having trouble getting started. So far I have been able to enter lyrics and that is it. When I add a WAV file it shows up in the box, but doesn't play. I then click on "play my song" and I get the following error: khpro has caused an error in KHPRO.EXE...If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer. I restarted and tried this several times. What is my problem? Have I not installed correctly? I followed all of the directions. Can anyone help?

Have you tried more than one .wav file? Are they imported from a CD or computed by an audio program? The problem might be the .wav header is non-standard.

Have you gone through the song and added the lyrics to the music?

What does it do when you click on Place Lyrics, and then click on the Start Button? Does the music begin to play? The first word should also turn red, let me know if this is happening.

The Play My Song Button should be used as the last step in the program before you save out the new .cdg file.

Yes...the first word is red and the program allows me to "place" each word. The problem is the .wav file does not play. And then when I try to "Play My Song" I get the error. I have followed the directions exactly. 1. Prepare Lyrics with Notepad. 2. Import Lyrics. 3. Add Music. 4. Place Lyrics. 5. Start to play music. (It is as this point that the program doesn't work. I can see the .wav file listed in the window by the Add Music button, but the music does not play. The lryics have been properly imported and the first word is red. I can "Place" words even though I can't hear the music. Each word turns red as I "Place" it. I can also press "End". It is when I press "Play My Song" that I get the error message and the program shuts down. I have tried different .wav files. HELP!!!

Where is the .wav file coming from? What program is being used to create it? Are you able to use Microstudio without any problems?

Try this, if you haven't already:
Use Microstudio to bring a .wav file into your computer.

1) Open Microstudio
2) Go to the Custom Assembly Tab
3) Click the New button
4) Under Select Disc Format, Click the Audio CD button (This will read the files in as a .wav file)
3) Place an Audio Cd in the CD-R drive
4) Click on Add Track from Cd
5) Select a Track number and give it a filename
6) Once this has completed, take this .wav file into Karaoke Home Producer

What happens when you do this?

Seeing a minor glitch in an input file or seeing anything but a pure 44.1k audio file should not cause a program to crash. If you have to perform sanity checks on your input before using it you should do so. There really isn't an excuse for bad input causing an app to crash - this I learned the hard way after programming for an ISP myself.

An alternate idea for processing audio input might be to use the MCI or DirectShow codecs already built into modern versions of Win9x and Win2K. Not only would this leave the sanity checks to code that's already well thought out, but this makes your software open to support things like MP3 and other audio formats transparently. Consider this for Microstudio as well as for KHP.
