Computer feeble when Hoster errors out on importing

By big job of importing all my CDs is coming along awesome! Just a couple of things that I can live with but I'll just put them out there and see if any one has any ideas.

Whenever Hoster or Microstudio errors when importing (multisession, dirty/scratched disks, or otherwise) I have to UNPLUG my computer and start it back up. If I hit shutdown or restart it always says "Shutting Down Hoster/Microstudio). If I chose shutdown it won't shutdown.

Another interesting thing about it is I can force quit Hoster in the windows task manager (if necessary) but every time I double click it it will not launch - I noticed if I go in the the Windows Task manager - for every time I try to lanch Hoster there is {in the processes tab of Windows task manager) another instance of hoster.exe in there that wont go away by hitting the End Preocess button.

I can get around this by unplugging my computer so I can live with it just a matter of convinience. It's just something I noticed that happens with Hoster AND Microstudio on my computer.

NO COMPLAINTS HERE I LOVE THE PRODUCTS AND KNOW THAT THEY ARE THE BEST OUT THERE!!!

I am running a Dell Pentium 4 (1.79GB) with windows XP home edition and 256MB Ram - maybe I should get more RAM?? My CD writer and burner is a PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W4012A (USB)

Aloha and Mahalo for reading!

Island -

Make sure all of your windows updates are current. The recent versions of Hoster requires these updates to run properly. I had the same problem until I did mine.

Re: Computer feeble when Hoster errors out on importing

Cduns - I'm using Hoster v. 2.209 (that's the latest -right??)

I did the Windows updates, doesn't help this problem (It doesn't hurt either!!)

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this and was able to fix it.

Again whenever Hoster errors out on Importing, for any reason, that's it - all my applications won't save if I am running something else from Netscape, to Excel to notepad to MS Word, anything else freezes and I have to UNPLUG the computer!!

I can live with it but it would be cool if theris a fix!!

Aloha and Mahalo for reading!!

Add More Ram!!!!!!!!!!

For windows xp (home or pro) 256MB is barely enough to run the OS itself!

In our 6+ years of shipping Microstudio, and 2 years of Hoster, I have never heard anyone have to power-down to shut them down. Tiven the problem appears to be uniqe to your system, I'm "suspecting" it is your computer, not the software. The fact that your other programs can't continue or shut down is even more baffling.

Our software is developed using Microsoft's development tools. Our programmers are expert in Windows development, so I can't imagine there is anything we are doing that would cause this. It is baffling! I hope we can find a solution quickily for you.

Re: Computer feeble when Hoster errors out on importing

Well I still haven't figured it out - I'm getting more Ram and upgrading to the latest hoster.

THIS IS THE INTERESTING THING...
This only happens when I'm running HOSTER or MICROSTUDIO - there must be some kind of conflict with what I am running. I have so much on this computer!! Having done speacial software - I was a tech on AVID - which is the program 90% of Hollywood used to edit movies, TV shows, etc. Anyway there were a lot of conflicts with some certain programs. We wouldn't let clients install a lot of other programs because of these conflices -

I think it would be best to purchace a Laptop to run the shows eventually. Or at least a computer dedicated to HOSTER. For now I can live with it I just was hoping to not have to pull out the plug every time Hoster or Microstudio errors out on a disc! Sounds like it is unique to my computer so I'm guessing it's some kind of conflict with the TONS OF SOFTWARE I already have on here!!
