PcGumshoe,
Make sure that you turn the Hardware accelration on for the Video and the Sound and then see if that makes any changes. If you don't have to turn it down then I wouldn't.

Can you attach your DXDIAG to this post also, as described in this thread: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?threadid=322
